Unplayable lag when playing hardcore mode

Whenever I play with my hardcore character, I get heavy lag after a few minutes, sometimes just seconds after or immediately after I join a server. Often the lagging gets so bad that the game stops responding. I tried reinstalling the game but it did not work. This doesn't happen with my character on regular servers, nor with my regular character on hardcore servers or any other character, so the reason is not with my computer. Could there be some kind of bugged item on that particular character that causes the lag since this started after the latest update?

 

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?
