DoxHoliday 51 Posted February 8, 2014 The current SA hosting rules state that an admin can reset the server frequently: "Server operators MAY frequently restart their rented instances in order to keep the time at a certain point.." Some of these servers restart *very frequently*. I realize this is not technically abuse, but my question is, could this not be used to an admin's advantage? I mean, isn't *everyone* kicked off when a server restarts? So the airfield's getting a little crowded while you're working diligently to farm loot? As an admin you just reset the server, come right back in, finish raping the barracks, and quickly egress before everyone else logs back in. Am I way off the mark? I admit I don't know much about the reset function on the SA servers, other than when they reset I lose connection. But it seems to me that it happens a lot on some servers, much more frequently than I believe would be necessarily to keep the time in a certain range. The airfield will be still as crowded, as it was before, maybe more so as people jump on reset servers
dayzintel 39 Posted February 8, 2014 Server rests aren't just there to keep to reset the time of day, the resets are required to 'flush' the server if you will, it helps increase keep the server smooth. But yes, you're right, admins can abuse the server restart functionality but they cannot log into the game before anyone else, so technically the only advantage they have is they they know exactly when the server is going to restart... conveniently just as they arrive at the airfield maybe..?
