what ever is wrong is not fixable by that tweak guide.

my HC character who has painted guns? pretty much the DayZ.exe stops responding as soon as the inventory loads, I was using High settings, tried again with all normal settings and clouds disabled and it took maybe 10 seconds to stop responding the second time - I had to endure a 280sec timer to check the normal settings so I loaded my normal character who has no painted guns at all, ran around for about 30 seconds after the inventory loaded and pretty much just turned into a slide show and then the exe stopped responding..

I have fixed the issue for myself. But it will happen to me again if I am near someone else who had the same issue.

After reading many posts about this, I can confirm it certainly does have something to do with inventory you had prior to the last patch/hotfix. I think a sudden wide character wipe will fix the issue for all. I fixed my issue by ditching a glitch butstock from my m4. I know someone who had to suicide in one server and respawn on a different one to eliminate the issue for him.

We all die in this game. I seriously think a system wide character wipe will solve the problem for most if not all.

Why not just let the devs fix whatever is making the buttstock and other items causing this? A wipe seems to me only to be treating symptoms.

I can confirm this, same for me but in reverse. My Regular server character has painted M4 parts, no matter what I do I have about 10 seconds before the FPS drop occurs. My Hardcore toon does not have painted M4 parts (both have M4's), and there are no issues on him. This is across any favorited server I try (I have 10 servers each for HC and Reg I have on favorites.)

I have dropped most all of my inventory items from the regular toon, had no flickering items that I could see, just did it to test things out. I have not dropped my painted M4 and moved out of range of it to see if this helps, that will be the next test.
