jmodels@hotmail.co.uk 4 Posted February 7, 2014 I was testing this the other day with what I think was all graphics settings and I noticed that when looking at other players, at what I would call medium distance when compared to the mod, they are so hard to spot and don't appear as a whole body but rather a bunch of floating dots or one dot. It is hard to explain but they pretty much appear invisible. http://i.imgur.com/aM4zL5e.jpg Above is a screenshot where I a player is stood out in the open on the industrial/factory roof but cannot be seen. Not a great example because of the low quality .jpg but in the standalone compares to the mod players are much harder to be seen and become near invisible at MUCH shorter distances. Had anyone else noticed this? Also posted on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1x9x4c/while_viewing_other_players_at_only_medium/
Karmaterror 982 Posted February 7, 2014 Dont quote me on this....but i think its something to do with the network bubble thing...again, not sure though :)
Atheon 31 Posted February 7, 2014 I have noticed this... I think, from my own experience, the pixelated dots you mention are the head/arms with the torso disappearing. I wasn't sure if it was intentional to simulate the limitations of human eyes or not.
jmodels@hotmail.co.uk 4 Posted February 8, 2014 Tested and setting your object quality settings to very high vastly improves this. Still not like the mod though... Object view distance should be raised if you aren't seeing him at that distance. The "dots" you are seeing are the players weapons and headgear which haven't been properly configured to the view distance. It's to prevent people from exploiting low view distance to see players easier as it was a common exploit in the mod. - Valdark (reddit)
Tizzle 90 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Try playing around with you rendering distances and other video settings. Unless you're computer can't handle increasing those, in which case I'm not sure what to tell you Edited February 8, 2014 by Tizzle
