Vultcha 0 Posted June 24, 2012 hello survivors/bandits.i'm wondering what people's opinions are on the currently disabled world chat. i read a thread earlier on it, with varying opinions, but thought a new thread would be appropriate to the discussion.my opinion sofar is that i like the idea of a disabled omnipotent world chat, but with the lack of an alternative, there seems to be something missing from the game that was once important to me as a player.it seems to me that the game is set up to have some sort of "radio" item which could grant access to a world communication, but that function is not built into the game yet...it is my opinion that side chat, or world chat should be re-enabled for the time being, until the alternative, or gameplay/roleplay alternative is implemented. as is there is no way to contact other players without sitting in their laps, which has lead to a worsening of the amount of cooperation in the game. it also has left the game feeling very empty and vapid. it really feels like i'm playing a singleplayer game without the option of side chat.as now, there is no way to functionally team up with other players, outside of chance, and there is no way to check if someone is friendly or has the intention to help. the benefits however, is granting the feeling of survival in the world, and a sense of realism. however, that sense of realism is not worth it imo for what we have lost. a community.in another thread in the server forum, there was mentioned that some servers were given the ok by the team to run with side chat enabled. i am wondering if there is a list of known servers that run this configuration as it is at this point one of the more important options to a server for me to pick. alternative, if we get a list of these servers, and they run high populations consistently, it can show that the opinion of the community is that they prefer side chat... not that the mod team doesn't listen, they are very plugged in imo, but it would be a great way to demonstrate it as a needed option for the community.-thanx! Virfortis 111 Posted June 24, 2012 Side chat just tells Bandits where everyone is. It kills what little cooperation this game tries to achieve, and reminds us all that it's just another video game (as if people hunting for killstreaks didn't remind us enough)So short answer, no. Side chat is gone for good, as it should be.

Black D. 0 Posted June 24, 2012 It may return in the form of short-range or long-range radios, as it should be.
Vultcha 0 Posted June 24, 2012 It may return in the form of short-range or long-range radios' date=' as it should be.[/quote']right. that would be pretty cool.however, until then i think they need to bring side chat back.

Steve McAwesome 6 Posted June 24, 2012 nope i think forcing people to use direct chat is much more compelling. It adds authenticity and strategy. The only thing side chat was good for was watching people type 'any friendlies in cherno?' and other noob behavior for a laugh.
Yeni 53 Posted June 24, 2012 Only reason I liked Side chat is because when Im camping in the woods by cherno, and see someone asks "anyone in cherno". Gives me a free kill. Other then that, I like it removed.

Survivor Scar 1 Posted June 24, 2012 The player I am now playing with the most, I met through side chat. Since it's been removed, the only people I meet, shoot at me, and one of us die. There is no time for direct chat. Whoever sees the other one first, gets a chance to live longer by shooting first, not waste that opportunity to chat (and then likely see the other player dodge to cover and start hunting whoever said something) - which is sad.I support side chat. Currently the game feels like a single player game with bots, since all other players are there just to shoot at you. In fact, the survival side of the game comes second to the bot fighting aspect. I also like to help new players in the game. If I approach new players now, they act like I am a bot, and act aggressively, and one of us dies. This would be differently if I could talk to them from a distance first.
SLASH-7 27 Posted June 24, 2012 It felt pretty lonely out there when it first left, especially as someone who only travels solo. But I’ve gotten used to it and prefer it gone now. I find I can get way more immersed in my character if there isn't a constant stream of blue chat.
