Backpack spawns

Recommended Posts

So currently airfields spawn taloon, mountain and hunting backpacks and are the only places that spawn hunting backpacks(except the shipwreck, but its a really rare spawn there). Would be nice to change it so that airfields and military locations in general spawn a camo variant of the mountain backpack only, deer stands and garages spawn hunting backpacks and civilian mountain and taloon backpacks only spawn in general civilian locations.

They are going to add more packs, it's just tamporary.

I see you did not understand my post. What I want to see is - military backpacks spawn in military locations, hunting backpacks spawn in places connected to hunting or where one might store such items and civilian backpacks spawn in homes - houses, apartment buildings etc.. And i know they are going to add more, even I suggest a military camo variant of the mountain backpack lol.

Yeah, connecting loot with sensible spawning locations should be fairly high priority, imo. It takes away from the immersion of the game when I find a camping backpack at an airfield, a defibrillator on the floor of a restaurant, or a pair of handcuffs in a grocery store.

not only in deer-stands, but also the higher-seats with ladders.

dunno, how it#s called in english.

Where the hunter sits and shoots deer.

If there was an apocalypse, i'd hide a backpack there, because Zeds can't climb ladders...

Right, I know and understand it. I was just pointing out that it could be the fact that their are only 4 packs you can find in loot spawns so they put civilian in military spawns. I do agree when more are added they should spawn in there respective areas.

It will work like that in the future. As kingrex said they just need to add some more packs to make it work.

It can still easily work with just 1 more backpack that would represent the military. Thats why I suggested it.

But what if the military dude with the military backpack died down by the river after fleeing the base?

I don't know that it would necessarily be the the exact model of the Mountain Backpack but camo.  I'm sure they exist in real life, but most you something more akin to the Hunter Backpack - maybe even smaller - which has specific pockets depending on current loadout it seems.  Usually they are quite small looking, probably due to the need to not have a cumbersome backpack on your person while moving through a combat zone.

I'm no expert - maybe someone with military experience could chime in?  If soldiers were deployed in a Humanitarian Relief mission (which obviously devolved) what kind of packs would they carry?

Well a quick google search led me to this http://img1.cdn.tradevv.com/Y201212M1529152C1752762/T6G1558199/W499H499/Multicam%2BCamouflage%2BMilitary%2BBackpack.jpg I dont know if this exact backpack is used in any military, but ive seen soldiers carrying giant backpacks similar to the mountain pack. There is a huge amount of backpacks used for different situations. There are some really similar to the hunting backpack, there are smaller ones, there are huge ones. I suggested a camo mountain pack mostly so it can be added to the game with the least amount of work.

I have been playing other games (with massive amounts of items and crafting) and what becomes a problem is Backpack and vehicle, and eventually vault space. As they implement more things (such as the crafting of a camp fire, to cook food on) you will want more pack space to put everything in, or places to stash stuff. 35 slots are not enough room now.. even with using containers to expand the slots. Also, when you are a new spawn, you really need storage space, even a tiny school sized pack is better than nothing..

I think the idea was to do away with online loot maps that tell you where you can find everything, and aim for a more "you have to search everywhere" approach.

If you think about it it does make sense that you could find anything anywhere. You never know what might have happened or who might have left things there previous to or during the outbreak.

The military will deploy into any where with infantry having them carry their full kit in a large rucksack. These are usually ILBE

As you can see he actually has two packs on there. The one he's immediately wearing is the ILBE pack containing most of his uniform, and personal items as well as extra other garments or equipment for grooming needed in the field.

The second pack attached to that is defined as an "assault pack" these are issued in a variety of size depending on the role of the soldier and their deployment.

126_ilbe_assault_pack_02.jpg

Each branch of the military also tends to have their own variations done on these packs. To add more to the variety. But the idea is the same to have a relatively moderate sized bag, that can be compressed down to ensure whatever equipment is needed for a determine time period can be easily carried and secure while moving in a hostile environment. These usually have nylon straps and buckles to sinch down to ensure it remains as small profile as possible with the equipment contained within.

Per the original request, a mountain packpack with a camo pattern, or just switching to OD Green or Coyote Tan would be correct for the size of an ILBE rucksack, and the Taloon bags could easily have the same treatment done to appear as an Assault pack. They'd be about the appropriate size. The only major additions is that these packs are also MOLLE capable so they potentially could have additional space added through the addition of pouches if a soldier chose too.
