1.7.1.5 wtf?

Whenever I join a 1.7.1.5 server, I load up just fine, when suddenly I'm in some random place with just a backpack and a flashlight that doesn't work. With no debug console or text coming up telling me where I am. When I hit "respawn" the game tells me to wait 4 seconds to continue playing then spawns me in the same place. I don't even get the "You are Dead" screen.

Sounds like you've not updated to the beta. Get the beta from Here then follow the instructions on Here
