"ready to login" button

Recommended Posts

I'm happy with the timer on login, on the plus side it allows me to get a smoke, browse the internet or refill my coffee mug, throw some used toilet paper at housemates or whatever.

BUT there is a problem: I tend to have this paranoia and can't help but checking the timer every 10 seconds to see if I'm not logged in yet and crowded with zombies or spotted by a player.

With this timer, I think it'd be nice to have a "yup, back in my seat, ready to play now" button to click on, so we don't have our character in game while we were away waiting.

I'd like to throw my toilet paper in peace.

Server hop much? Ive never had a timer that was more than 30 second, but then again, I've only seen this timer once.

I'd like this but I believe it falls into the same problem with the logout timer issue that Rocket commented on. Along the lines that it would require additional serverside resources to monitor and await input from the user and open up possible exploits and/or hamper overall performance.

*edit

I generally have to reconnect to a server that has been restarted within 10-15minutes, else I get stuck on "Please wait." So I get hit with login timers. Or my awesomely shitty dsl just doesn't like servers within ~50 miles and I lag out and have to play elsewhere and get hit with timers. No biggie, would just be nice if it's possible.

Dude you know how demanding servers are and full of ping issues. A lot of us have to reconnect often.

Well I don't know if it requires a lot of ressources, after all, when the timer is on, you still aren't connected and sharing infos with the server (I think). I think it's client based.

nope, all servers had severe ping issues today , I quit frequently between my 2 in favorites to log back in.

So because of something that is happening that will not normally happen, you seriously want them to add something new that is not really needed?

You could just not login when you leave your computer, the queue timer will still tick down even if you don't try to log back in.

here's the reddit post Rocket made in reply to a logout timer. I would assume a similar issue would be involved for a login timer.

thanks!

Yup, I guess it takes ressources and useless time then.

I was having this idea while re-thinking counter strike, but I realise you already are in the server when clicking ready.

I guess I'll just wait "manually" then :)

Nawh, I feel you. In a session of ~6hrs I'll get hit with about 3-6 login timeouts depending on server restarting. Bad dsl, crappy computer, wife using wifi, you name it my connection suffers. But, it is what it is. If able, I'd like to see it though.
