bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted February 5, 2014 - Spawns: Loot spawn tweaks in some civilian structures I had hoped that this patch added loot to a lot of the civilian buildings, but sadly we can still skip right over a lot of the residential houses. There's just never anything in them. You come to a completely looted town, but those buildings always have closed doors because they don't spawn loot. It's too easy to run into a town and go straight to where the loot is. There's no need to actually search, you just check spots you already know.
paradogz 19 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) +1 I must admit that I was disappointed to discover that these ever-empty-houses were not affected by the patch. I do understand that loot must be scarce, but I really think every house should have A chance to have something in it, otherwise, you just loot the same houses and it is frustrating. You just know some houses will never have something in it, so you just don't bother, which is a shame. Edited February 5, 2014 by paradogz
MagneticToast 102 Posted February 5, 2014 That is why I wish all loot spawns were completely random. Weapons shouldn't always spawn in certain places. There should be a set amount of each object that spawns on a server at a given time, and they are placed in random locations. Fields, houses, etc. Of course certain places have a less chance of getting better loot and weapons, but it would still give a reason to actually search buildings. drayson 158 Posted February 5, 2014 Other than restarting a server yourself and immediately playing on it then running to these houses, it's hard to check if they actually spawn stuff accurately. I close doors of houses behind me after I loot them so people don't know where I have been typically. Having said that, there are several houses I skip over myself because I have never found a single thing in them. Ever.

After each patch I make a point of checking all the structures that didn't spawn loot before the patch. I found none that had loot. It's true, someone could have been there before me and closed the doors, but I doubt it. Like 90% of the systems in place. I am sure they are placeholder So, the lack of a loot spawn point is a placeholder? LOL I think that's the first time I've heard of nothing being a placeholder. Tizzle 90 Posted February 5, 2014 Rocket has said that at some point he hopes to have all residential structure enterable and loot spawning, I'm glad to see they're going in that direction.
