My first KOS

So, I've been playing two servers, primarily, one hardcore, one regular. Checked out both for a bit today ... didn't have a lot of time. On HC have a scope for my mosin. No scope for regular. Pretty geared otherwise on both. Decide to look for a scope on regular. Log in, had logged out just outside of Krasno after running through the AF and the town, primarily just looking for that scope earlier, preferably long range. Went through the town, hardly anyone online, it's night. Population fluctuates wildly, but due to being wiped at least five times, I try to stay on a server until it resets, and even then. Anyway ... so hardly anyone on, decide to run through the AF for two reasons: one, to look for a scope, two, hopefully get to kill a server hopper. I got both wishes, kinda. Maybe.

Before heading to the airfield hit the *cough* school *cough* (office), can't see shit, so I just stand and tab where I know loot might be ... pick up an FNX45 to go with my mosin and .357. I had been carrying a clip and some rounds for a buddy - just in case. Anyway, decide to hold that for my airfield run and start out at the southwest end heading to the first jail building. Take out a few zeds in town and around the jail. Doors are closed. Good. Open them. Jail doors are closed. Good. Loot the building, same deal, stand around in the dark, listening and hitting tab. Find some crap, food, drink, some ammo, another 45. Some clips for an m4 I leave after emptying. Head past the hangars not bothering to check. I have no light and can't see shit in them anyway, though I did find an m4 in one, once. Hit the control tower. Not much there of interest, more of the same. Hang around for a little while listening, hoping. Nada. Decide to run to the other jail before heading back and waiting for hoppers. The loot suggests a fairly recent restart, both in the buildings and the town before. Head over to the eastern jail building. Doors are closed. Good. Open them. Jail door is open. Shit. Close the doors, back off and ease right to the side. Hear footsteps. Heart starts racing. Aim .45 at the door, and it opens. pew pew pew pew pew pew pew! Dude drops. He should be dead, right? After a beat, he stands up ... motherfucker ... pew pew pew pew pew! Drops, dead, this time. 14 of 15 bullets from clip spent. Maybe I should have used the .357?

Irony: among his possessions, one long-ranged scope, but ... ruined. w00t. I'm fairly certain he was a hopper, but not 100%. He didn't log, so he gets props for that.

Anyway, first time ever KoS. Don't feel the least bit bad about it. It's NEAF after all, though I tend to not want to shoot first. That has been me on at least one occasion.

Anyway, if this sounds familiar, your body is there and I didn't hide it, nor take anything aside from your pristine ballistic helmet, which I'll most likely ditch for a camo baseball cap or green ushanka.

With all the pointless KOS going on in the servers, your only option is to KOS, or get an axe / bullet in the back later.

 

If they had a working humanity system, maybe that would change.

 

Until then, my philosophy is "shoot till they stop moving, shoot some more, and bury an axe in their head to finish it off".

1S1K-Airborne: I disagree with your humanity idea. It was NEAF. Anyone there dies, pretty much, especially hoppers. I've died there, and will again. That said, I usually take the tact that it's better to talk first and die than to shoot first. Don't really care what others think about it. This time I was looking specifically for hoppers. And, the doors opened, a silhouette emerged and I fired. Even if there was an armband (I think that's what you've been lobbying for) there is no way I'd have seen it, even in daylight. No visible sign of humanity would have been obvious in that situation, and then, as I've said in your thread, they are all prone to manipulation, IMO.

Yeah see. All I do is server hop Balota and snipe from a hill. I get about 15 kills a day and die maybe once a week. If I'm with my clan I get even more kills but normally I am alone. Die, spend 2 hours gearing up at CHERNO (since you noobs all loot Elektro) and run back to Balota, get a mosin from a night server and camp the jail on a 40 person server till someone logs in upstairs, kill them take scope and head to hill. Rinse and repeat. All I do is kill players. Your kill was fine. The fact that you feel you don't need to shoot first all the time is stupid. Nearly everyone KoS's. All I do is rid the Balota airfield of people who will KoS for military loot and I feel great about it. If you assume you have geared up decently (food,water, weapon, ammo) it takes you 1 hour minimum to spawn near Elektro, loot and run over, and get in position. Assuming I only kill 4 people before getting counter sniped I have ruined 4 hours minimum of people's time, while losing perhaps 2 of mine. Makes my life well worth it. KoS is the end game right now, so hop on the boat or play hero and real-life and get shot. Easy as that/

You win this one. Curse you pain killers! If my leg wasn't broken I'd say thing a lot differently. I will agree that I try not to kill on sight but honestly it really is killed or be killed and hoppers deserve a bullet to the head. So you did a noble act but internet fights will never get anyone anywhere.

TBH, this is my philosophy on KOS.

 

I tend to NOT try and KOS, EXCEPT for military bases and airfield. The only reason people (including me) are there is to obtain Military loot, (M4, scopes, camo gear etc). This gear is not to kill zombie's or to defend yourself. Its designed to kill other people. Therefor everyone who is @ the base has the plan to kill other people (including me :P) and is a threat. 

 

@ towns and city's i try to talk before making any move... Unfortunately this usually gets me killed :P

 

I also tend to NOT go to airfields alone though :P Scared shitless 90% of the time if i do that :P

I know. I'd never used the FNX before. I was surprised by its rate of fire, but disappointed in its damage. I fired in two bursts, and was surprised that it was almost an entire clip afterwards. I ejected it to see how many I used. In retrospect, I should have been carrying the .357 (which is what I usually carry for close encounters if I don't have an m4), but I wanted to get a chance to try the .45.
