I had this idea when body cleanup wasn't working, mainly because the piles of bodies was down right creepy.

I really like the idea and would urge for its testing. as such I  may rewrite this post to better convey its simplicity and purpose.

it would add a dynamic scenery aspect that would be both esthetically engaging and informative

1.have the death location of each person from each server recorded.

2.compile the list for a sufficient amount of time to achieve the desired body density and scope.

3.place a rotting corpse model at each of the compiled locations.(the kind buried in the ditch by the bus)

4.periodically change out the corpse locations with the newer list of corpse locations

this wouldn't be done live, depending on how it was implemented it would either update on server restart by fetching the list (which itself may only be updated every week or two) or the list would be incorporated into each game update.

this would provide a dynamic scenery aspect to the game which not only keep the game looking different, and is not only user generated, but is generated by the players own death.

it also can be used as a learning tool for strategic advancement for both new and experienced players. See piles of corpses on a street but not the next one? people get killed on that street pretty often, probably best to take the other street.

if people just wanted to look at it as a cool effect they could. but if they wanted to read into it. they could use it to see possible kill zones/lines, where to avoid, and possibly where to attack.

I have always been fascinated by games that release their maps death density as it has always showed be some thing or place that I hadn't thought of. this would be a very immersive and visceral way for people to see this information

the coding would be unique but not hard. and would give the map a real "lived in" feel. to increase authenticity several zombie models could be used to meet the geometric needs where they'll be placed.

They should have never removed the body's after death. Had a long conversation about it with my buddy's and all the story's from the early days/mod came up.

Every time we found a body we would go all CSI on it. That and nothing like just finding a random dead body out in the middle of no where.

Now also add in the new hand cuffs and burlap finding a naked duded with burlap and cuffed deep in the woods would be a very memorable moment.

The days of playing taps over direct while burying the body and everyone saluting is long and gone.

I weep whole heartedly..

I mean come on if it was about people getting back to there body's it's not like the best loot can be found on the shore.....

The first time I came across that bus crash on the coast that has a bunch of bodies outside it, I thought it was awesome.  These days, any body I see laying out in the open, I assume it is a trap and someone is likely watching or nearby.  I would like more evidence of the death and destruction thats occurred, but Ill continue to wait patiently as the game develops.

I'd like to see bodies left to be honest, nowt makes me go into ninja mode more than stumbling upon a dead body...

I wish all the dead bodies didn't disappear, and stayed.

Or if that dosent work, make them disapear after 2-3 or 5 hours.

Maybe even have it as an option for your server, and tweak it acording to your prefrences ;)

First of all, servers aren't capable of processing that much data yet (this is why loot isn't respawning for example). You have to be patient with that kind of suggestions.

And then, I personally think that there is no need for "rendering" bodies from other servers. It would be just fine to let all the corpses from current server stay and decay until it's restarted. Or maybe the server, just after restart, would download previous positions of bodies and put them there at the beginning. That way, each run of the server would have bodies from previous one with additional bodies, that are created during that specific run.

the system I'm suggesting is a little different then leaving a player body behind, this is for a few reasons:

player bodies are interactive and have a high detail level which put a little more strain on the system compared to models

players look unique in the game, even dead ones, and for the numbers of corpses in high traffic areas, I don't want to run past a pile of corpses to find out someone was hiding by them.

i'm suggesting taking a large pool of deaths, like 500-1000 spread across charnerus and have the bodies be a color neutral decomposing corpse, something that doesn't look like a live player at all, to ensure they're not mixed up with the living. and on top of really increasing the ambience. they'd serve as a warning to other players. you may find clusters of bodies around corners of in spaces you didn't think to check before. or clusters of bodies on streets you felt were safe to traverse. they increase the feeling that you're one of the few remaining survivors. and serve to warn you of potential dangers they did not survive.

this could all be loaded from an .ini file witch has a list of the coordinates of the corpses, I doubt it'd be more then a megabyte

i'm not suggesting this has a realtime update either, as the devs might want to groom the data to their liking, even updating once a month would keep things looking new.

servers are able to handle this as there is already hundreds of thousands of non-interactive models in the game

^ It's a cool idea man, I know nothing about programming or how it could be done but I like how its a player driven change depending on where people die etc.

I'd rather the bodies just stay there for a long, long time. Like a week if possible but hey, I want a toilet made out of diamonds and a helipad on my roof too.

I want to (carefully) loot helmets off of decaying helicopter pilots.

I want to walk into a room where I see blood on the walls, a gun, and a long-dead couple holding hands.

I want to see half-eaten corpses, rotting the in the streets, covered in flies and maggots.

I want a half-dismembered corpse to crawl towards me, moaning.

I want to be afraid.

I'm not one for over-the-top gore just for the sake of it, but realistic gore done properly can have a profound impact (if you laughed at that, you're probably mentally damage :P).  I would say only if done right - which I would say the bus scene on the SE peninsula was.  Random bodies just lying around everywhere, torn to pieces, blood trails leading every which way...why?

Also keep in mind - I have no idea what the rating on this game currently is, but it might not have been pushed into the highest bracket just yet.  Extra gore could do that, and that might hurt the bottom line.  Just saying.

So you want game created corpses?

I want corpses where people have died, somehow I feel my vision isn't being seen

Maybe not piles but definetly some survivor corpses as props, not actual players or NPCs, just props...maybe some of 'em could spawn loot

People in an wardrobe hanging couldn't take it no longer and hung them selfs, but just props don't want a server lagging because of spawn campers been dicks and shooting new spawns.

O and you can loot their boots off them like the book of Eli.

Would be interesting to find a random dead guy in a flat. How did he died? Was it a natural cause or are there hostiles around.

Can see people running for their lives when they find a couple a dead guys together.

I think all bodies should just last longer.

Zombies as well.

Hopefully this will a bit of 'shit going down' effect.

A bit more gore and a few dead bodies for the 'shit was going down' effect.

Or at that 10 minute mark just erase the items on the body but leave the model there to be seen. Stop people heading back to their corpses but would still be visible for other purposes.
