Pete247 0 Posted February 4, 2014 Hi peeps, I just started playing this game and instantly got attacked leaving me injured but not dead with no way to die and therefore no way to respawn. Thinking out the box I thought I know, just restart the game so deleted my game save file and tried playing again. The game generated a new save file but then won't let me join any servers as it says I have modded my save file (which I haven't, I just wanted to start again from new. I tried reinstalling the game, I have even opened a new Steam account and purchaced a second copy of the game but it just won't let me play anymore. Does anyone know how to fix this please? Thanks. e00c 84 Posted February 4, 2014 OooookkYou bought a second copy? This sounds fishy straight away.Fyi, characters are saved on the hive...I suggest posting in the bug tracker :-)
cysinyard 12 Posted February 5, 2014 Yeah your story doesnt add up really. Game save file? Anything else your not telling us?
Pete247 0 Posted February 5, 2014 think what you like, I'm not a computer person, play consoles normally. Getting the second copy was out of pure frustration, all I did was delete the 2 files labelled DAYZPROFILE file in the DAYZ folder in the hope it would wipe the profile so I could start again. When I did open DayZ again those files were then auto repopulated by the game but now it thinks I have cheated. I don't see the point in cheating on computer games, especially not games like this, the whole point is the fun in finding out how to play, I just was unable to die so was unable to respawn which was all I wanted to do. If ya don't know the answer then not a problem, will hopefully find someone who can help.
Karmaterror 982 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) What files exactly did ya delete and from where? Sorry didnt see 2nd post lol. All your save game stuff is saved on the hive not locally. A fresh steam account should have no issues at all, have you changed anything else at all? Try reinstalling steam, and then verify the game cache after you reinstall it. You do that by right clicking the game in steam library, then go to properties, then local files, then should be a button to "verify integrity of game cache" Edited February 5, 2014 by Karmaterror
e00c 84 Posted February 5, 2014 When I did open DayZ again those files were then auto repopulated by the game but now it thinks I have cheated. These files are mainly config settings and graphics settings. I manually edited mine, as did most people on here. Even verifying the content via steam doesn't kick up issues. No one else has reported that the game thinks you're cheating due to these files. That's why it sounds odd. As Karmaterror said, delete DayZ, reinstall it. See if this fixes it. Is it regular, hardcore? Have you tried different servers? Submit a bug report, or speak to BI about the possible modified files.
