[Video] Insane visual frame stutter

Recommended Posts

Before the latest update, my game was running perfectly fine. Now, every single second without missing a beat, the game skips a frames. It almost looks like a stutter.

My best guess is that even though I have VSync turned off in the settings, it's forced on somehow.

Current game version: 0.32.0.114557

Computer specs:

- CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770k @ 3.50GHz (8 CPUs)

- GPU: 4033MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670

- RAM: 16GB DDR3 Ram

- Motherboard: Sabertooth z77

Also, it could not possibly be my internet because I have:

Upload: 100 Megabits/s (Megabytes: 12.5/s)

Download: 10 Megabits/s (Megabytes: 1.25/s)

Here's a video I recorded to try capture it and it's clearly visible:

My game launch parameters are:

"-high -maxMem=2048 -maxVram=1024 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -nopause -nosplash"

Before, I would get extremely smooth game-play. Now it's unbearable.

Can anyone help me out?

The thing is, I'm not in a city, at least not directly in the video. When I get one, the game won't stop skipping frames and it feels like it's a picture slideshow.

I've had reduced fps recently too... I had to drop my video settings all the way down for me to be able to play... Not sure if we'll just have to wait for the next update

AMD wins again!!! lols. I havent noticed any difference in frames with my fx 8350 and HD 7950...

Since the last patch I've had the same driver for my GPU (which has been the latest available).

It appears I've fixed the issue, I think. I re-installed every single motherboard driven I had.

I'm glad that you managed to fix the issue but I haven to ask why you're using this configuration?

Since the latest update, if i'm within 500m of ANY building, i get this issue as well. in fact since the first experimental patch, my performance has dropped significantly. up until the third update i was able to run around Elektro with upwards of 40 FPS, now i'm lucky to get above 17.

I'm not sure if you are having the same problem as me, but what I did was update the drivers for every part of my computer: CPU, GPU, Motherboard. It seems DayZ somehow managed to corrupt my display Driver with the latest update.

I think I managed to overlook that, I've already switched that to a greater amount.

My current parameters are now: "-high -maxMem=8192 -maxVram=2048 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -nopause -nosplash"

Yeah, that's more like it. Apparently using about 10mb less than your full amount of VRAM and the 'auto' setting in-game is the best way to go too, not sure on the reasoning behind it but that's what I've always been told anyways.

Also, I don't think the game will be able to use more than 2Gb (guessing based on ArmA 2, I don't think the official max for DayZ has been announced yet) or so of RAM but it will just default back to whatever the max. is so there's no harm in putting your full amount in.
