Is my microphone working?

Recommended Posts

I bought a microphone, and I can hear my voice come out of the speakers when I talk into it, but I'm not sure if players can hear me. I tried using fraps to record a video, and talked into the microphone with the push to talk engaged, however I couldn't hear my voice on the video. Does that mean it isnt working? And does anyone know why it wouldnt be?

that is not nearly enough information to go on.

However, I recommend ensuring that your mic is recognized and enabled (and likely it's the only device that should be) in the recording tab of windows sound settings.

Then, make a Skype test call, and make sure than you only hear everything that you say once, with the delay. You shouldn't hear yourself out of your speakers in direct coms.

Thanks for replying. Below is how my recording tab looks. Could the line in be affecting it? That is my Logitech Z5500 Speaker output, however I also have my speakers connected by optical spdif so don't need both. I think I actually have the option of plugging my microphone directly into the Logitech system so maybe I can try that. I tried Skype and it worked just fine.
