Off line mode for viewing of character and inventory

I would like a Off line mode at the start of the loading in page for viewing your character and inventory in his/hers  bags and pockets and  health status and general  information and it would be good if you could collect and save at least one extra suit of clothes in a bank or a certain amount of different clothing attire to swop and change  your guys as and when you feel you have to for example ... if there are different weather conditions on the maps  bla bla bla of course if your man dies then you would loose every thing

Also it would be nice if the name or ID OF each server that you joined was displayed when you hit the information button while you were still in game, because it can be very annoying if you loose connection or cannot find your last played on server, so that you can rejoin? or add to favorites 

 

I know the servers should show up in your resent activity log but some times the log does not show it and if it does the the logs are never in the order of last joining and if you join a server and enjoy it well unless you can remember the name or id your hard pushed to find it

That is quite sad. I hope they wash their mouse and keyboard before a child uses it.

 

I vote against anything available offline due to the possibility of hacked items. If I wanna check on my guy so bad..Yeah turn it on and see or take a screenshot to stare at. maybe wallet size?

1.They could probably make some kind of UI where you can check the inventory of the last character you used. The game client already know this information and could display it without requiring a connection.

2.No, no extra suit, how do you think people hiking deal with changing weather? they pack a poncho for rain time and warm clothes if it gets cold. Ditch what is not absolutely necessary and optimize your pack.

storage and basebuilding is on the agenda, so you will be able to store items which you do not want to carry around.

server browser and much of the GUI is still pretty raw, the feature you refer to is pretty baseline and i am sure it will be added at some point

Yes to viewing character offline. NO to editing or storing items offline. That is a very bad idea, it doesn't fit will with the type of game, and it also opens the door to cheating.

 

All it would take to view characters offline would be to have  the API for the server queries released. All it would do is allow viewing, if someone could program a web viewer or something similar. If the API was developed, the community would write all the code, and make the viewers.

 

One benefit I see is the ability to show your clan-mates what gear you have, without constantly having to update them with your current status every time you die or find new gear. I imagine something similar to server status banners you see, except that it could show your character.

 

Possible risks:

-Ability to spy on another players gear if you have his Steam-name. Best protection would be to use a unique ID or something, but if they had that, they could spy as well.

-Increased hive load from many thousands of queries. One possible remedy: a secondary server would could be made that held all data for the API to access, that way the actual hive that stores you gear isn't overloaded. This would be updated upon log-out for example.

I think a code you could use to share with friends to show your loot would be cool, even if you can already just screen shot it if you wish to show them.

I'll throw in my two cents.

 

Offline item manipulation at all is just a no. Like millions have said before me, it's just a way for people to cheat with no real in game functionality.

 

HOWEVER I would love to see a stats page available online/mobile on release, including current character stats, perhaps inventory (no manipulation, even moving stuff around,) and global user stats.

I like lots of numbers.

I wanna make a point here though that I think a lot of the community is overlooking

If the "balanced in game loot economy" means a balanced in game loot economy, m4's and all manner of sniper rifles are going to be COVETED. Like... don't fire it if you have it, cause if anyone's nearby you're target #1.

This means trading will be a necessity and seeing your inventory offline to arrange trades will greatly appreciated by many. And abused by many into robbing people, but yeah.

Point 2 I like.

It would be nice if the "play" option in the main menu worked so you could always go back to the last server you were on.
