Bullets Going Through People

Recommended Posts

I managed to distract some guys away from a duped corpse in Elektro, I ran up to the room and grabbed a shotgun and a revolver off of it. I hear the guys coming back up the stairs so I wait with the revolver aimed head level at the door. One pops out, I fire at the center of his head. Nothing. Just a smoke puff behind him as if the bullet had passed through a wormhole exiting behind his head. Boom boom, I'm dead.

Anyone else have something like this happen?

I noticed it happen to a sniper on a clip I was viewing last night, at first I thought he was a bad shot. Now I assume this is what occurred.

Though I think you're asking why didn't he start bleeding.

He's asking why the person didn't die. He should have used a better title. >.>

I've had issues in ArmA where shooting people didn't hurt them, yes, but I'm guessing you simply missed.

This has happened to me many times, I even made a thread about it. I wasn't sure if it was lag or not but on multiple occasions I have been posted up in a room after hearing someone enter the building that I was in, door opens I shoot a few times while ADS not even 10ft from him and nothing he returns fire and I'm dead.

The other day I went through 2 60 round clips with my m4 shooting at this guy who was running around laughing. I'd say I probably put about half of those rounds in him and nothing. His buddy then shows up and shoots me twice with a .45 and I'm dead.

"Aim small, miss small"

Sorry, I'm watching The Patriot.

When all else fails, grab an axe and chase em' down and head chop for about 1 minute straight...while yelling.

With 120 rounds on a moving target I'd say you just missed a lot. I've only had what I described in the OP happen a few times, definitely not many times in a row.

You aimed at the head.

It may not look like it, but EVERY weapon is zero'd at a certain range. Revolver is probably 50m. So if you shoot at someones head, 10m in front of you, the bullet will go right over him instead.

This ain't Battlefield boy!

Sorry to say it, but you're wrong.

1. There is no Zeroing on the pistols. Their effective range is about 25m, before they start falling off or dispersion kicks in to the point of them being wildly inaccurate. At about 50-70 meters, it once took me 8 shots to kill a zombie. I was laying prone, perfect health, not exhausted, pressed "hold breath" for a moment, gun was pristine, ammo was pristine, was aiming directly at center mass, and had a pristine Red Dot sight on it.. In other words: Pistols are extremely inaccurate at 50m's.

2. The muzzle velocity of a pistol fired within it's effective range would not allow the round to travel far enough to make a difference due to "zeroing".. You could zero it at 25, 50, 100, 200, or 800, and as long as you were firing within 25 meters, it wouldn't matter.. The rounds trajectory would not have enough time to deviate more than a few inches (if that).

Sounds like you missed. Either due to lag/desync, or just being a bad shot.

Aim for centre of mass, and just double tap.

RULE NUMBER 2, DAMMIT!

Pistols are ranged. There was a whole hissyfit about the FNX being zero'd at 200 meters for some reason. And if you're aiming at something as small as a head, those couple inches are enough to make it miss.

IF that is true, they need to change the invisible zeroing on pistols to like 25 meters I'd say.

If it's true, this should be in bug report :-).

Not to deviate too much but of similar topic anyone having issue shooting things while lying down? ... I basically don't go prone to shoot much due to ground interference ...

Should ask Gews for the exact data, but at least for the FNX, this is true.

I've found that the magnum seems to be highly inaccurate.  Bullets seem to go left or right a lot

Its amazing how easy it is to miss a target especially if the target is close

some factors to consider that may cause you to miss your target

A. Panic shoots

B. The target is moving

c. The server is a little laggy

d. The target is two far away

e shooting too many rounds too quickly

f. using damaged weapons, clips, and or ammo

some or most of these factors combined  together,  will mean that some of the players wonder why they  cant hit a barn door

The muzzle velocity of a Colt Python with a 6" barrel is somewhere around 410 m/s according to google. Zeroed at 200m it would fire 0.00583 radians or 20 MoA above where I'm aiming. 5 meters away it's going to go 3cm above the muzzle (which is actually probably exactly where I'm aiming because the sights are above the muzzle).

Props for not taking the easy route and calling me a CoD player though.

Well, on the flipside. I've shot through a single person with a magnum at close range and the bullet travelled through him and hit his buddy next to him.
