Damage Absorbed By Equip

Recommended Posts

I feel like this is more like a noob question, so posting this in the new players section.

What level of protection does military equipment offer in game and how it compares to real life?

I've been wondering this since last night, after I survived a fight with some random at the NE airstrip.

my gear: motorbike helmet (pristine), tactical shirt, cargo pants, tactical vest, jungle boots, glasses.

weapon: splitting axe.

all of those pristine or worn.

I reach the house gate and get someone to rain bullets with an M4 to me. I managed to hide and run behind the military building in time to get my axe in my hands and assault the guy. I was already bleeding.

He was wearing ballistic helmet, gas mask, tactical vest, shirt and cargo pants, military boots.

He didn't notice me attacking from behind and managed to get some blood off him before he got his magnum out and unloaded it on me.

I survived.

I keep hitting him on his head while he tries to take his fireaxe out but he falls unconscious. At this point I take his M4 out and finish him with 2 shots to his head.

I notice his M4 has badly damaged parts, which might have helped me survive the first attack (he probably got my legs) but how did I not die from the magnum??

Either he just shot to my chest and the equipment took the most damage (my shirt and pants are ruined, but the tactical vest is pristine!) or I'm really lucky for once? :)

the press vest takes like 2-3 m4 shots before it gets ruined :) and 1 mosin shot

If your tactical vest is still pristine, he probably hit you just in legs and arms and not in the chest area (and obviously not in the head).

Those are non lethal or KO areas, if he hit you just a few times (maybe less than what you think, it's very easy to shoot badly with a magnum if hurted and in close combat) you had the time to bandage up, it makes sense (in terms of the game).

M4 has an high dispersion atm, so if its parts were badly damaged that could have caused the lack of precision that saved you from the first attack.

All items project the body, a little, but in particular vests protect from bullets and so do balistic helmets, motorbike helmets protect from melee and punches (good to prevent KO from fists). When hit, those take a damage, gradually but it is clearly noticeable because of the various stages :)

ok thanks, so I guess in the rush he failed to aim for my head and get me unconscious. I still took 6 shots from a magnum point blank though :D

You would not have survived six point blank magnum shots to any vital area - he either missed every shot, or maybe hit arms/legs with a single bullet. Magnums do a lot of damage.

Then again... alpha, lag, etc

I think tactical shirt absorbs little damage. Got shot in the chest with mosin, survieved. Vest was pristine but shirt was ruined. Got enough blood to shoot back, run for cover+bandage and leave the place. ( 3 not so friendly guys in NEAF )

EDIT. But jeah I think he missed all if none of your equipment isn't damaged. I think press vest is only one which gets some protection from bullets.

it doesn't really matter what you wear, if someone is shooting at you chances are you are going to die.  Don't rely on your gear rely on your wit if possible, most times though when someone shoots we panic lol, the stakes are just so damn high :-)
