Server updates

Recommended Posts

I was curious. I saw that the server hosting agreement says it's the admin's responsibility to update with the newest version of DayZ. Couple of questions, because I see a lot of servers running an older version, making the available list of servers quite a bit smaller depending on your own local version of the game. The wording on the agreement is a tad vague.

Are they required to update to the latest version/hotfix? Or does it mean that no one is going to do it for them, they have to do it themselves?

If it is required, is there any plan to get the other servers on board or are they just being ignored to avoid confrontation?

I am just asking because a friend of mine and I wasted an hour the other night trying to find a server that was up to date, didn't kick for ping, wasn't full and wasn't passworded. It was frustrating to see half the available servers grayed out because their version was behind.

XamotDB,

It depends if your with a hosting company they may upgrade your server for you. But if you own a dedicated server you will need to update to the latest version on your own.

We have Dayz Server Admins around if you do need help.

Appreciate the response Razor but that's not what I'm asking. I want to know if the terms of use mean they are on their own for getting updates installed or if they are required to update to the newest one. Are half the servers out there just behind on purpose or are they breaking the terms making it hard to find a server.
