JuX 72 Posted January 29, 2014 [i am importing the suggestion from dayz mod section to here, where suggestions for SAwhere previously posted and it does collaborate/expand one the suggestion recently madecalled military treasure.] Stories of Chernarus Chernarus is foreign place to even the most veteran DayZ players and nobody knows about anything what transpiredto cause the zombie outbreak or history of Chernarus. My suggestion is about adding fictional stories scatteredaround the world to explain the life that was before and after the outbreak. That can be found within diaries, notes and military reports, which may contain tragic stories, useful tips or location of potential loot, that mightbe encrypted to offer a hobby ingame, as you travel. These stories could add more immersion to the game and act as guides in the process.
o5pr3y (DayZ) 77 Posted January 29, 2014 I'd love to see something like this implemented. I always loved how S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s world felt so alive with rumors and lore. Really added to the creepiness.

Give the community tools and let them do it ingame, like in the thread linked above, instead... Yeah either, or works for me. A nice immersive world is nice, but I don't want gameplay sacrificed just to grab a cool story. State of Decay did this well. They never explained how the infection started, just how it spread. But if you looked really hard you could find a Biohazard cargo canister somewhat near the debris of a plane crash. After it was found, tons of fan speculkation happened. Monkfish (DayZ) 339 Posted January 29, 2014 It's the best way to do immersive stories in my opinion. Rather than just give the player some text to read or a video to watch, let them find clues (and not scripted ones either) about what happened and let the player deduce it for themselves. Hopefully the stuff with the radios and Green Mountain is some underlying story that the devs have added in secretly (and if it is, I hope some code junkie doesn't blow the lid off it by scouring the game code rather than, you know, playing the game and making the discoveries legitimately).
