Food Turning Bad Once Opened?

Recommended Posts

Quick question for the old hands out there.

Is food turning bad once a can has been opened?

Never crossed my mind, I usually open a can of beans or whatever and gulp the whole thing down.

Is it actually possible to, let's say, only eat half of it and keep the other half for a raining day in your backpack. Will the food turn bad and make you sick if you eat it a few days on?

Or am I only running the risk of having a sardine-smelling compass ?

Currently no, you can open 50 cans of tuna, leave them in your bag and enjoy them at your own leisure.

The quality itself doesn't seem to matter either, my backpack full of ruined beans tasted just fine!

I would like to see this implemented though.

Hmm, i'm curious though, do worse than pristince food make you get more hungry? I get the feeling that when i'm running on worse food, i get more hungry, than running with pristine food in my stomach.

Food and other items currently work exactly the same regardless of being ruined or pristine. They haven't implemented downsides of ruined items. (I know this because I was gunned down, and when I looted my stuff, it was all ruined but still functional)

I'm almost positive that you can't be poisoned by bad food... I've eaten a lot of beans that were in bad shape and never got sick.  I wonder though if the nutritional index is decreased.

I think you can also apply disinfectant to food. I've seen someone do this in a vid, and leave the poisoned food in the road for new spawns. I did not see whether or not they became sick or died.

*IF* this is the case, and I feel for now it is not, it's a very small difference.

I've even had 'ruined' cans of beans then when i've opened em they've turned to pristine.

Except for magazines, speed loaders and scopes (excluding the long range scope). If magazines or speed loaders are ruined, your weapon will not fire and the worse the condition of a scope is the more broken the glass of the scope is going to be.
