Banned From Us 3480

Ban: Admin Ban (Rogo/MAXI (Script))

 

I logged in at Dobry Hill, North of Electro and ran up to Topalka Dam. When I arrived there, a survivor was looting the dam. I killed him and ran South towards the fire station to look for players but found no one there. I ran back North along the road to head towards the dam again and ran into another player who was a bandit. I killed him and logged out to change my name when I saw on the side chat that players were holding a grudge on me. I logged in for a few seconds, not moving an inch, then decided to log out again.

 

When I logged back in a few minutes later, I got the ban message "Admin Ban (Rogo/MAXI (Script))". I don't use hacks and I didn't see any script restriction error that admins sometimes ban for out of confusion. I just killed a couple of guys at the dam. Why was I banned?

Sounds like you killed an admin, as suggested just find a new server, it's annoying but sadly the way the servers are sometimes run :/

I can assure you this isn't the case, and I'll look into the logs to see why the ban was placed.  Hopefully you don't make this assumption every time someone posts that they were banned.  I swear there are still a few quality-run servers out there.

First off, let me thank you for playing in 3480.  We appreciate the traffic, and the ban appeal.

 

Digging through the log files I see a line that shows as:

The humanity value "-1.07871e+006" is caught by some filters due to the e+00 and will read as a value restriction.  I have whitelisted this value, so it won't kick you from the server; however, it still is logged and shows up thusly.  I personally apologize for not making my admin staff aware that this is nothing more than an low humanity (very low, you naughty bandit) and does not constitute as an offense.  In hopes of running a clean server, my admin staff tries to scan the logs every night and weed out the script kiddies who like to come ruin the fun for everyone.  Being that there are often times a lot of players in the server at once, it tends to draw in the bad with the good.  

 

I'm sorry you were banned, it was one of the false positives that can slip through the cracks.  I've unbanned you as of now, and hopefully you can accept my apology and will join us again.  If not, I understand.

I've run into problems ever since my humanity passed the -1,000,000 mark. Some servers automatically kick me while others kill my character instead. That's what two years of banditry will do.

 

I do appreciate how well your admins work to keep the hackers away. I knew the ban was due to some confusion and that's understandable given my exceptional case.

If you want a cool server with no stupid ass admins, and I'm guessing you're more of a fan to the large side of DayZ Rather than the mods, but if you're down for some sick ass new servers, come to mine.

Hopefully you read through the thread and saw that we were able to easily resolve this issue without resorting to hateful language towards each other.  I know being banned for false positives and other undeserved reasons is a pain, believe me, but in most cases we're able to handle it like men.  Quick. Fair. Clean.

Wow, it's sad to see how fast people jump to conclusions.  Unfortunately it's fairly understandable considering how many poorly run DayZ servers are out there.  I personally can say that US3480 is run by some of the best admins around.  They are vigilant in keeping the server maintained, and are extremely fair in their approach to bans.  I have *NEVER* seen any evidence of them abusing their power in game in any way.  On top of that they are very good at listening and responding to comments and appeals here on the forums.  There are very few official hive vanilla servers with consistent population these days, and 3480 is by far the best.  OP, I hope you accept Jimmy's apology and come back to the server.  He's a real standup guy and this is a great server to play on!
