Playing Dayz On Steam On More Than One Computer

So I'd tried to play DayZ on my lunch break on my work pc. I logged into steam at work and started the game and my character wasn't there.  I immediately exited the game.  Have I lost my character and all his gear on my home pc?

It's stored on the 'hive' I believe. Just exit / join / exit / join until he comes back. :)

It could depend on whether or not you have DayZ set to sync to the steam cloud.

When they updated the last patch, they somehow tied your character data to your computer name and not your account. This has caused some minor issues with some people playing on desperate accounts on the same box. I dont remember seeing  a specific fix, I hope this helps.
