Sound Radius

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

Just a small and fast question. Whats the radius of the different sounds like eating/reloading/drinking ?

It happened to me a couple of time already when i was near a town or in a town and i heard someone eating/reloading. After searching around a little bit (checked every corner in adjacent buildings or trees) i could not find the guy. And i heard multiple times the eating sound.

So is it a bug? I mean if someone is eating in ie. cherno everybody in this town can hear it? Or theres a radius of 10-20 feet? (if so whats the radius?)

Its a noobish question i know, but im frustrated when i hear some interaction-i have my heart pumping -and i cant find anyone :/

Cheers

I'm 90% sure it's a bug. I often hear a cola open, someone eat or a zombie moan even though there ain't no one there. You can tell it's a bug with the cola, cause you only hear it open and not anyone drink it.
It sure as hell gave me a scare from time to time.

I can confirm that eating sound effect happens as a bug too. I wear a nice headset and I hear it all the damn time! lol. Makes me nervous, especially when I just log in.

From my understanding of known bugs and glitches:

Can opening and munching sounds are carried to players well outside the intended normal range. My best guess is you can hear a can open clear across elektro, however it is not random.

Reloading sound is triggered on login sometimes, even if you have no gun.

Bunnies make the errant zombie noises and the fence rattling I believe too.

From all what I read it sounded to me like they've got a real good audio guy in there, as they might intend it for cues. I think what rocket said went something to the effect of audio being relied on, but I don't wanna quote it without looking it up. I'm tired.

Anyways, it sounds like getting that to us is a little further out, they don't have it for spring 2014 I don't think. I'm really excited about this though, I have high quality studio monitors I listen to all this on, so I'll basically be hearing exactly what the sound guy heard in the studio, which is awesome.
