trubbished 2 Posted January 25, 2014 Hi All, Just really looking for some advice - I've been playing DayZ Standalone for around 30 hours now - highest settings in game with no major issues.Over the last few days within around 5-10 minutes of loading, My PC just turns itself off completely. No errors, just a complete system shutdown (as if I held the power button down to force a shutdown.) Having played around a little bit with the settings, it now only seems to run in 'normal' settings.. which so far seems pretty stable - upping it to 'high' and within a minute or two... instant shutdown. Just wondered if anyone else was seeing the same kind of thing happening (so I can tie it down to maybe one of the newer patches (!?) In order to try and sort this, I've removed any overclocking, Got the all clear on virus / malware, made sure all drivers up to date and even tried swapping out the PSU in case this was on the blink. But not having any joy whatsoever. Whats strange is that all my other games still run fine (i.e BF4) - and not seeing any overheating issues either (temp averages around 50) when dayz is up and running. The PC should be more than powerful enough to run Dayz with no issues so I'm hoping its just something alpha related.. but any thoughts would be appreciated! Happy to post any more info if requested. Cheers! Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted January 26, 2014 Which build number are you playing? Also this is worthy of a bug tracker post if you have not already done so http://feedback.dayzgame.com/my_view_page.php everyone else with this issue should upvote it on the bug tracker. Porter, that's why I swapped out the PSU in case it was something hardware related. I don't really want to go to the level of messing with the mboard and such as not seeing any other issues on anything else . pretty frustrating!

trubbished 2 Posted January 26, 2014 System shut downs occur to protect your system, what temp is your cpu, have you tested your ram. Thanks indamixup - Ran windows diagnostic and memtest86 - no RAM issues found. Tested CPU temp with AIDA64, CPUID & the display on my PC and with DayZ running in game the the peak temp is 61c on CPU - Mboard - 34c
trubbished 2 Posted January 26, 2014 Going to start slowly upping the detail in game and see if I can find anything that spikes up the CPU temp...
trubbished 2 Posted January 27, 2014 Just as a quick update as I had a bit of time to spare today... Replaced two fans in the pc (so now running 1x200mm, 1x140mm 3x120mm, And also fitted a new CPU Cooler. Ran furmark stresstest which ran to 79 degrees with no stability issues / pc shutdown. Played DayZ in 'normal' for about 40 minutes & then upped the 'objects' detail to High.. System shutdown about 10 minutes later (with temp at 61c) So apart from motherboard issues I'm out of ideas :(
ncg4m3r 0 Posted January 28, 2014 You're not alone in this. I've posted about the exact same problem. I've been playing BF4 on High Settings, and Crysis 3 at (5760x1080) on Very High settings with not a single shutdown or thermal event. I sit there and monitored my temps. I have also just ran "Extreme Fire Storm" in 3D Mark with not a glitch. I'm running a GeForce Titan, and the only game that completely shuts down my computer is Day Z. So it's not a thermal event or the PSU. I did notice that Day Z runs stable on "Rendering Resolution" of 50%, but once I up it to 100% it will always shut the computer down, usually at the main menu. I have had decent luck at 80% but it still crashes quite often. The only thing I can think of, somewhere in the graphic settings causes a crash.
freethink(bohemia) 0 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) This has started happening to me now. I'm guessing it's related to adding launch options Going to try without these:-winxp -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -maxMem=7192 -maxVram=1024 edit: i think my issue is related to the nvidia update Edited March 2, 2014 by fredx
Darth_Rogue 6 Posted March 3, 2014 Have you attempted to play on the experimental build to see if the problem follows?
freethink(bohemia) 0 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Ok I've been thoroughly investigating this and it seems like a known issue with msi gt780dxr laptops (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162440.0) BUT I've figured out specifically my issue: I got a replacement battery recently and while that is plugged in and charging i get temps of 69-70c+ when charging and just normal surfing. I put the old defective battery in and kept it plugged in and now I'm running at 45c. My shutdowns only happened after I used the new battery. I'm still going to follow the advice in the the link I posted above because I'm not getting the performance I expect but I can't solely blame dayz for my issues. The reason your pc is shutting down is your gpu is overheating and shuts down to protect itself. (Just thought I'd post a follow up just in case any others googled similar issues) @Darth: Not sure that's directed at me but no, I haven't played experimental recently. edit: I go from 48c to 97c after 10 mins of play Edited March 3, 2014 by fredx
