Pitch black areas during daytime

Recommended Posts

This is an engine thing and I am not sure if it is even possible to change but some places should be dark or completely pitch black even during daytime. Like rooms that have no windows and no light reaches in from anywhere. If you turn shadows off then even the deepest, most secluded place is brightly lit.

If this could be possible to change, then large structures would be a lot more immersive to loot and hiding in them from others would be a lot more viable.

This is a great idea but my uneducated guess is, that it would be quite intensive on the server resources.

Considering ambient light, I'm not sure there would be too many places in the game that would actually be truly dark during daylight.

Now, perhaps having the amount of lumens in a particular area have a particular effect on focus, likely through post processing effects, would be very nice.

example: you log out in a building on a night server, with almost no light in the area. log back in the next day, walk out the door and all you see is whitewash for the next few seconds until your eyes adjust.

another example: dark industrial building, interior. one guy is already inside the building, his eyes adjusted to the room, and another guy runs in from the bright outdoors. He can hardly see anything since the room is so dark compared to the bright sun outside, but our bandit camping the building can see him fine, his eyes already being adjusted.
