It probably has something to do with the strain that Dayz will eventually put on the servers and the bandwidth that it will eat up once they crank up the number of zeds and other things.

I think the CPU horsepower needed to run the server and the ram resources associated to it are quite high, plus it depends how much of a cut Bohemia Interactive are asking for.

 

Server rentals for many games are increasing, although the exception lately has been Rust.

80$ a month is not that much if you plan to host your own server.

 

It is literally ONE day of work if you have a job.

 

I don't see what the big deal is...
