Basic: My DayZ Standalone Ideas

Hi my name is skymuss, I'm 23 years old, I study
Computer Science at the university of Passau. I
already play this game for about 2 Weeks and I want to
give the community my ideas and these ideas which I
Collected form other users.

In the first topic I will give you my main Ideas
For the game, in the second topic some item ideas
And in the last topic some gamely ideas.

Here are my basic ideas, which would make the
gamely feeling better.

1) Imprecise Map: (Medium to Implement)
I never played the DayZ mod, so in my first
10 hours gamely, it was very hard for me to get
some orientation. I just walked form city to city
To get better items and tried out what I'm able
To eat an drink. I think it would be a good idea,
to give the new players, which first respawn at the
coast, a Map, which is very imprecise. Hardcore
Players could throw this map away. If a player
looks at this maps, he will just have the knowledge
In which sector he currently stands. The regular map
Items can still be in the game. Nothing would change
The feeling of finding the real map item.

2) Zombiehords (Just more/not the AI): (Easy to Implement)
When I first played the game, I had no weapons and I
Thought that it will be very hard to kill a zombie.
After I found the fire axe or a gun it was very
simple to kill all the Zombies, because in the
cities, just where a few of them. Instead of one
Zombie, the developers could insert more of them.
For example 4 or even more, then the gamely would
Become more interesting for many players.

3) Randomly Item Respawns (Hard to implement)
In many different dayz sessions I saw player, who
just walked to the military bases to get the
guns or other imported items. The most of them,
didn't looked around and went to the cities. I think
the gamely would increase if the developers would
Implement the spawn rates of guns and others good
Thing more randomly. That would have the effect,
that players have to search all over the map for
Good items like weapons. In always found the good
Items in the same type of houses.

4) Bring People more together (Medium to implement)
In the most of my DayZ sessions I walked hours
Just alone on the map. Sometimes this was very
boring for me. I think a good new feature
Is to implement a signal which says "Here
I am".  The developers for example could add
"Smoke bombs", in perhaps 5 different colors.
Other Players can see the signal (the smoke)
over a long distance.

5) Rivers with bridges (Medium to implement)
On the whole map I never saw any rivers or bridges.
Instead of designing cities, it would be great
To have some rivers and bridges, because every
Player has to cross the river to go to the north.
This feature would be very interesting because
Players automatically come together on the bridges.
This feature would also give new players an good
Orientation point on the map.

Yes, I would like some map improvements myself, theres not much to see when walking from Elektro up to the NWAF and back again.

 

But apparently the engine doesn't do too well with rivers.

4) Bring people together = kill get killed 90% of the time.

Because either someone sets a flare as a trap and kills everyone who walks by or someone sets a flare because he wants other players to find him and gets killed because they found him.

BUT there will be flares (they were in the mod and there are already 3D models of them in the game files) So this is something that will be here sooner or later ;)

 

5) Map is in constant change. Maybe we see rivers and bridges? We'll see...
