Bugged/ruined player loot?

I've taken out about 11 well geared players today and ALL of them had ruined weapons, ammo, food, ammo boxes, etc. The only pieces that were "pristine" were the main weapons i.e. axe, m4, mosin, shotguns.

 

Anyone else noticing this? I tried both unloading clips into them and just head shots and the same thing occurred.

 

edit: oh I also noticed my guns being ruined after taking like 2 hits and I had to go replace them. They were pristine before the fight.

If you deal lots of damage to players with shooting their bodies then you risk ruining their loot more. How did you kill them and how much damage did you do to their corpse and where did you hit them. Where you shoot or hit them is where the damage will be dispersed. Head shots are the best way to ruin the least amount of gear.

Yep. This is supposed to happen to discourage KoS mentality and force players to interact with one another (even if it is robbing them).

Even so the amount of damage the items take is silly. I've shot someone 2-3 times with a mosin in the chest and literally everything on their body is ruined other than their main weapon, similarly i've had mostly pristine stuff in my backpack before a firefight, get taken out with a couple shots come back to my body after my friends guarded it and pretty much everything be ruined. It's like right now it's a 0 and 1 system for damage one shot ruins anything.

That's because you're not suppose to be corpse running like old school diablo.  Now I do agree that gear getting ruined is a little to much but thems the breaks when douchebags try playing this game like CoD and have to ruin it for everyone else.  This is why we can't have nice things.
