Dr. Goner 661 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) These threads are hilarious, "So I've been hopping servers for an hour and can't find shit. Does this mean I have to actually play the game now? Because that sounds scary." Go look for loot somewhere else. And yes, you may have to be smart about it and you risk being killed. Be happy, you've discovered the actual fun part of the game. Enjoy the scenery. Edited January 23, 2014 by DrGonzo
Jonah_Hobbes 171 Posted January 23, 2014 Yeah as long as loot stays within the realms of realism but without making the game boring. As Chernasus is mainly rural I would expect to see more fire wood axes than beanies or motorcycle helmets in sheds. I'd also expect scopes for the Mosin to be found outside of bases as well. I think they'd still be a fair amount of ammo lying around and weapons on the bases or at least one of them where the personal were overrun before they could gather equipment and flee. Because life is so cheap at the moment and not all of the expected features are operating people will server hop - done it myself. Yeah hopping is annoying but I totally understand why people do it. At least you have a half chance against KOS if you are armed.

At least you have a half chance against KOS if you are armed. Sorry man, I'm giving up one of the words in my member title briefly. Say it with me, there is no such thing as KOS. You were killed because you weren't aware of your surroundings and yes, this includes exploits and the meta game of server hopping. You have to be aware of these issues at all times especially in areas where it happens. KOS isn't a bad thing. Pay closer attention to everything and it won't happen as often. The game is cruel, it's challenging, but holy hell that's what makes it fun. Now get out there and explore the map, there's plenty of loot to be found! Hell if you change your play style a bit you never know what will happen. Drop out of the arms race bro, watch from the hills before going in, survive, kill zeds, help a bambi, work on your wardrobe, start a fresh fruit stand. You have thousands of different options when you play this game. Each death is a new lease on life and an opportunity for a different play through.
DeatHTaX 1217 Posted January 23, 2014 Chernogorsk is one of the best towns for weapon attachments in my experience
Jonah_Hobbes 171 Posted January 23, 2014 I'm with you I've not been killed by KOS for ages, but you can't ignore the comfort of having a gun. I've pretty much explored the entire map now, did the Alter and the little ruins west of them and I tend to go ages without seeing others. I've been sniping at the NEAF mostly but my Mosin got rolled back so I'll be looking to do something else.
Blades421 66 Posted January 23, 2014 hope you realise people server hop not just for loot, but to confirm there suspicions about things / changes they find in game, if its happening in more then one server then chances are its new change or a bug.
alleycat 135 Posted January 23, 2014 Server hopping for loot is necessary because loot does not respawn. This means if you are a new spawn you have to run like an idiot for an hour to find loot
Advent1 126 Posted January 23, 2014 Server hopping for loot is necessary because loot does not respawn. This means if you are a new spawn you have to run like an idiot for an hour to find lootI never understood the "run for an hour" thing. It takes 20 minutes (I've timed it) from the coast, to reach the NWAF or any Western area of the map without stopping. Now, OF COURSE it will take an hour if you're just going through every building, but it seems pointless to me to server hop UNLESS you've actually checked every city, etc. I've played on 50/50 servers and have noticed that there is no one on the western end of the map, atleast in my experiences I have gone hours without seeing anyone on full servers and I was well suited to survive loot wise. Blades421 66 Posted January 23, 2014 yeah I noticed that too, even on full servers people are not spread out, they seem to stick to certain areas...half of the map is empty on full servers lol.
Anarki (DayZ) 13 Posted January 23, 2014 There IS something wrong with the loot. The spawn rate must have been INSANELY nerfed. Big military tents are not spawning anything, at all. The hangers are often empty.
