Dont know if its new but i saw one wandering earlier. All the rest iv seen just stand there....maybe they have a few tweaks :)

This has been like this since the last patch before this one.  They kind of tweaked the pathfinding, if the door is closer the zombie will go for the door, but if the door is far away the zombie will still go through the wall.  They still clip through outside walls and fences like they don't exist though, but the path finding is definately better than it was initially.

 

And yes zombies do rarely climb stairs now but they still have a greater chance to just clip through the stairs and wonder around downstairs following your path.
