Banana_Duck 121 Posted January 22, 2014 So my friend put a ruined backpack on the floor earlier, it never re-appeared, I know items take a while to appear, but my question Is do ruined items disappear?

Not from what i've seen, perhaps the server was lagging and it desynced the backpack?
Banana_Duck 121 Posted January 22, 2014 Not from what i've seen, perhaps the server was lagging and it desynced the backpack?well we were on one of those houses that's on stilts sort of ( the green ones) we searched for a good 15 mins, moving away and returning to see if it spawned. fluxley 2228 Posted January 22, 2014 Not sure which house you mean, but if you were above ground level there's a chance the backpack just fell through the floor, item condition doesn't make any difference.
InflatedLyric 39 Posted January 22, 2014 I have lost items in the woods (mostly on sloped hills), never reappeared. I make it a rule not to set anything down in a house unless I can live without it. Sounds like he was swapping out a backpack. I always put my absolutely must keep items in first and then pick up the new pack quickly, double click the stuff that got left in the old backpack. If server restarts or the pack disappears, I will get by without the items I lost. I also like to drop something that I won't mind losing just to check to see if it might be safe. Areos (DayZ) 106 Posted January 22, 2014 When dropping items on the ground you intend to pick up again, always drop them on a surface you're sure has no empty space below, such as a road. Sometimes items tend to fall through the floor and land on the next floor under when placed on the ground.
