Respawn doesn't work?

Hey Guys n Gals :)

I'm a total newbie at DayZ Standalone - I've had it for a whole 24 hours now (and already died three times from zombies, and once from a fully armed player after trying to gift him a first aid kit).

I have to say I am enjoying the game a lot, and I can't wait for all the extra features to be added.

 

I do have one question though - does the respawn feature actually work?

I ask this because after falling unconcious I have to respawn (due to being a lone player with no buddy to wake me up) however after clicking "Respawn" and agreeing to kill my character, it gets permanently stuck on the "Please Wait..." screen. The same thing happens when I die, my screen remains black with the text "You are dead" (or "You died" I forget which). The only way I can "cure" this issue is to exit out of the server and then reselect it from the server menu.

 

Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and/or is there a work around for it?

It can work, but it mostly doesn't.

Its a known issue that they are working on, no work around other than exiting and rejoining the server.

Yeah this has happened to me a few times, exit and re-join fixes. No biggie ;)

I can't respawn more than I can. Although now that I'm geared up and a have 50+ hours under my belt I'm dying a lot less.

Happens to me as well.  Any time I get killt I have to disconnect and relog into a different server.

I haven't managed to survive more than a few hours at a time. Mostly because I takes me a while at first to find an axe, and I tend to always stumble into a group of zombies minutes after spawning - usually when I'm inside a house and they walk through the walls. I also haven't been able to get my hands on a weapon and ammo yet because they've always been looted no matter what server I go on, or the area where they are located is being guarded by a group of heavily armed citizens so I can't go near them. Wish weapons and ammo would spawn in other locations on the map other than airfields and military bases - would make it easier for us newcomers to get armed without having to go near those newb deathtraps.

you can get the pistols and the mosin in all sorts of places across the map....moslty the m4 and the military clothing and stuff is only at the military places...just keep looking...once you figure out where to go to look for what, its much easier to get geared up and survive...

quick fix - click respawn, disconnect, reconnect
