My tales of DayZ Part 2 " Under sniper fire"

Recommended Posts

In my short time so far in Day Z I have already had several amazing encounters both good and terrifying. I felt inspired to write about them so I hope you will listen! I've already written about the previous encounter directly prior to this one which you can read here:

Part 2 " Sniper fire! "

Still on the road after my previous encounter, this time I was alone. My friend was not with me for the time being. I was very well kitted out and I had a long range scope for my Mosin given to me by the guys in my previous encounter, along with buckets of ammunition. So I decided to go see if something was stirring in the big towns along the coast. Maybe I could kill a few bandits and help some fresh spawns. My journey begins!

With help from my trusty compass I head southeast towards the coastline. I stuck to the treelines and tried to be as stealthy as possible. I didn't want any pesky bandits to spot me. After what seems like an eternity I could finally see the coastline. I had arrived outside of chernogorsk, I think. I kept to the hillsides as I laid down in the foliage scouting the area. I scouted for a long time but I could not see any player activity in the area. I moved positions further along and laid down to scout again. Nothing. Then suddenly I hear a shot in the distance. It was very faint and barely audible. I turned arround to look in the direction where the shots came from but i could not see anyone. Luckily they were not aiming at me. I moved up a little bit and after a short while I could hear the shots go off again, gradually becoming louder. It was a consistant series of shots. There was definately something going down. Maybe a bandit shootout? Or just a lone sniper taking out poor survivors in the distance? I decided to investigate and went closer, all the time trying my best to stay hidden and move carefully through the treelines while trying to identify the shooter.

I moved up near a barn along the treeline to maybe see if I could make my way arround the field to the origin of the gunshots. I scouted the treelines surrounding the area where the shots had come from for a long time but I saw nothing. Then suddenly out of nowhere I hear a loud crackle and my vision becomes obscured. The colors wash out. " You feel blood dripping from your torso". I panicked and hightailed it to the barn. I ran in zig-zag patterns as the bullets wizzed by my head. My heart was racing wild. with all the luck in the world I managed to make it into the barn. I dragged myself upstairs and began to bandage myself immediately. I was terrified I was going to die. I was almost certain of it. But I would not give up. I was going to make my stand!I pull out my handgun and covered the opening of the barn on the shooters side, waiting. waiting nervously for what seemed like forever but was only a couple of minutes. There was no sign of anyone following me. I could still hear gunshots in the distance. Was he shooting at someone else? Or was he trying to intimidate me? I decided I couldn't wait any longer and carefully moved downstairs and arround the backdoor. I peeked arround each corner to  see if I could spot anyone but I could not. I went prone and crawled along the side of the barn. I crept in a row of bushes alongside the fence. No one had seen me yet. I hunched over a small open road into the next line of trees and ran as fast as I could up into the mountains along a row of trees.

A short distance up into the forest I decided to prone down to reassess the situation. I was low on blood and because of it my vision was blurry and my color had faded. My protective gear was damaged. I was in no fighting condition. I did not once see the gunman and I had no idea as to his whereabouts. It would be a dumb decision to go back after him. I decided that I would focus on surviving for now. I needed to regain some blood but i did not have any blood bags and I didn't even know my own bloodtype. Not to even mention where was I going to find this blood. What i did have, however was a whole lot of food and drink. I kept running through the forest until I stumbled upon a small village on the other side of the mountain where I sat down to recuperate. I ate all of my food and drank all of my water. It turned out to be a little too much and I ended up becoming sick and vomiting, but atleast it seemed like my blood was regenerating. Now I had used up all my food however and I needed to find more. so I started following the road, carefully walking on the hillsides to aviod beeing spotted. I was headed to the next town to find some more food.

and so ends my second story of my encounters in DayZ. I can't believe I survived that!

this game is so extremely immersive. I became seriously scared in real life and it was thrilling. I know that I could have just combat logged to avoid the risk of dying from the sniper but I had done so in a previous encounter and it just felt cheap. It wasn't any fun. I had decided that I would never combat log again and take the consequences of whatever happened. I find it to be a lot more fun that way.

I still have another short tale from my adventures with this same character that happened just after this. I may write about it if people seem interested!
