Leaving Trash After Eating/Drinking

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but we find plenty of empty cans and tins around in loot... But why not make one drop or generate in your inventory when you drink a coke or eat a can of beans? This would leave evidence or a trail of trash for a group and would make eating such meals a risky decision if you are trying to avoid a group of bandits deep in the wilderness. Makes canteens and meat even more desirable too, and I like that idea.

Well, the difference between you eating and you getting hungry again is about, like 3 miles? Trash would be too spread out to track anybody.

Somehow I seriously doubt bandits spend time in the woods looking for trails of players. Bandits ambush, and almost never track because there's no way to do so. If there was actual tracking then maybe, but this doesn't add anything. It's just annoying to have empty cans scattered about.

If nothing, it at least adds to the realism. The more I think about it, I feel it should just alter the item to the empty version of itself, which could then be dropped or used as zombie distraction.

There are mountains of tin can trash already in the game without deliberately coding even more trash into it.

Hey, I've always wanted this idea, and it sounds great. I am totally on-board with you Mr. Chatham. Good idea, +1

Was just thinking of this concept so I did a search and came across this thread.

I agree with the OP. While there would never really be a true "tracking" mechanism in-game, this is the next best thing. Having to drop an empty tin can or soda can after consuming them would cause some players to be a little more cautious as to where they leave their trash :emptycan: :)

No sane being would be out scouring the forests for tin cans but just happening upon an empty can where loot would not usually spawn would suggest a recent visitor was in the area (maybe player's dropped cans would disappear on a disconnect?)

:beans:
