FPS issue GPU usage?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I am having issues with my fps in dayz like so many others. Yes I have read through all the threads and tried the most common solutions, still nothing has helped.

I am getting less than 20 frames on an i5 4670k and a GTX 760.

Now based on my own testing I believe my GPU is being under utilized its running at a fluctuating 20% load. Now heres the funny part if I start MSI Kombustor, leave it running, then play dayz my frames jump up to over 50 naturally with 100% GPU load. I noticed this acidentally while testing OC settings.

Does anyone have an idea? or do I just need to play Dayz with Kombustor on the whole time.

Thanks in advance for the help(:

Usually CPU related. Your CPU is 4-core 3.2~3.8 GHz so isn't completely useless. Don't know kombuster, but if it works, use it.

My CPU is running at 3.4GHz no oc.

Kombustor is a software used to stress test your GPU essentially forcing it to 100% load.

If my FPS increases when my GPU load increases doesnt that imply a relationship between my fps and the GPU usage not the CPU?

I do the overclocking from Bios, I believe that's the best way of doing it.

i7 4770K OCed to 4GHz, with ASUS z87 Sabertooth.

At first I was confused by what I was supposed to do but once the information and tutorials on how to overclock are read it's quite easy.

Also have a very good cooler for your CPU, I paid for a Corsair h100i Watercooler, best investment yet.

I don't believe this is anything to do wit your CPU, it must be GPU related... You have a better CPU than me and mines not overclocked, and you also have a better GPU than me but I get about 40 FPS, must be something else, I don't know what but I'd steer away from the CPU at the moment.

Yeah I dont think it should be my cpu either..

Dont the results I get when running my GPU at a forced 100% utilization imply that dayz isnt stressing my GPU enough?

Is there any way I can force that other than just running really high settings?
