Can someone please tell me what clipping is?

I assume it doesn't refer to the act of beating someone to death with a paper clip?

 

All I know right now is clipping is a problem.. apparently.. but what is it? :P

Moving through an object you aren't supposed to move through. In most games, this means your gun barrel sticks out of a wall, or in Battlefield 3 when you're laying prone and your legs "clip" through a wall behind you. In DayZ, clipping usually means you run through a wall and get stuck inside a building, or jump out of a very tall building and die.
