An apple a day.....

Recommended Posts

Well good day to you...

Fruit is on my mind....and the discussion here. :)

I played quite a bit over the weekend, bought the SA on Friday.  Experienced both the good and the 'alpha' parts.

In my 1st life i nearly died after eating a rotten banana. It fact it was the main cause of me being knocked unconscious by an infected as i was very low on blood and still sick, at this point with a lot of gear.

Promised I would never eat rotten fruit again.  But one of my favourite rules is.. rules are to be broken!  New spawn last night on a full server i simply could not find any food apart from a tin of tuna.. that i was unable to find anything to open it with.!!  Anyway I was literally starving to death and came across a "pristine" rotten kiwi!  The irony was not lost on me.. i checked my personal rules, and then promptly ignored them and gobbled it up.  And yes i fell sick.

Does the condition of the rotten fruit have any bearing to the chance of getting sick?  Eating rotten fruit is a last resort.. but on a full server without respawning loot is a potential necessity.

Lastly I'd like to tip my hat to the insightful person who raised a very large bug in the bug tracker.

banana does not fit in chest holster

I tip my hat to you sir!

Ha Ha having a bannana in the holster would be the funniest thing to come across.

The condition of the fruit has zero affect on whether you will get sick or not, if it says rotten do not eat it.

But if you do fall sick or necessity does call then you can take either antibiotics or charcoal tablets immediately after to cure yourself although you will still be sick for a while after.

Also and i could be wrong on this if you manage to stumble across a well you can drink enough water to make you throw up which will also cure you eventually.

More importantly though food is abundant on this game if you know where you are going. Find out where you spawn and where the closest city is and head there, currently my character has eaten enough food to feed half of Africa and he is not showing any signs of slowing down.

From my experience: At the moment, no.

But I'm always a little scared when I find a "worn" banana...who wore it? And more important: WHERE?

But on the other hand:

1) Find rotten banana

2) Take banana in hand and hold it up

3) Run around making "pew pew" noises

Eating rotten fruit is a last resort..

No it isn't. Never.

The chances of getting sick are too high, and sickness drains too much water and blood.

The amount of activity a rotten fruit buys you (less than 5 minutes) isn't worth it.

You should never, ever have to eat rotten food, normally you don't even have to look that hard when you run through different buildings scavenging for food. There are literary TONS of cans/fruit/rice/cereals in every small village to major city. But, if you are unfortunate and spawn next to a village that recently have been scavenged through, just take a little more time looking in corners, behind objects and i promise you there will be some food! Best thing to do is to get yourself a little food and some soda and just start running north;)

I've just found one of those. I was most amused and a little perplexed.
