[Ideas] - Suggestions, Hotfixes, Balance

Recommended Posts

Basically here's a list of ideas for this amazing mod.

Both me and my friends have been discussing these suggestions, and we believe that some are good, few are awesome, other are junk, but all together are viable to improve DayZ.

- | Spawn New Player | -

Basically with the new patch, Makarov is no longer available. To help players get a higher chance of surviving, give them Empty cans in the inventory so they can throw to avoid Zombies.

**Pros:** New players wouldn't rage for being killed within 2minutes

**Cons:** Average Players would say; Garbage? It's everywhere!

- | Radio System Operational | -

So here's a big dream for all DayZ community. Since sidechat has been removed (wich in my opinion is a valid decision) Radio should really be an issue in this game. Somehow, communicating is vital, and since the chat ruined it a bit, "Anyone in Cherno?", Radio is the best option.

Here's the system input:

Walkie Talks - Basic radio comunication devices in near ranges (to be defined)

Radio Towers - Advanced radio comunication devices in long ranges (to be defined).

Army Radios - Advanced radio comunication devices in medium ranges (to be defined).

So how it should work?

Radio Channels, u basically define a channel to communicate among other users in the same server.

**Discuss!**

- | More Animal types | -

Just for more realism. :)

- | Zombie Hordes | -

Somehow a special event that would spawn 15+ zombies in certain spots of the map, making these hordes travel long distances between towns. Drop Rates increased in these hordes.

- | Party System | -

I believe, that in order to get a full DayZ experience you need to play it with friends. Therefor we all know the feeling of searching our long lost friend that was shot 5hours ago.

So, to improve social in-game experience, a party system should be implemented with party chat, party localization (via GPS), and some other cool stuff to discuss.

--- More ideias incoming ---

Good luck!

- | Spawn New Player | -

Pretty much. Garbage is everywhere.

- | Radio System Operational | -

I've already approved of this with my insanely awesome seal of approval, but there needs to be interference from fog or rain or something so that not every message is relayed through.

- | More Animal types | -

I see nothing wrong with cows and sheep. Perhaps a larger quantity of them in farms?

- | Zombie Hordes | -

Balance it out with the number of players in a certain area then we'll talk.

- | Party System | -

Beloozero seal of approval.

I believe most of these ideas have been touched upon, but I'll go over my thoughts on them briefly.

Empty cans for new players - Gonna have to say no for the exact reason you listed, and the lag possibilities that could arise.

Radio systems - For sure. I think all of the chat options should be removed, barring direct communication. I think direct communication should work for very short distances, shorter than now even. Walkie talkies (frequency 1) could be like up to 50m, military radios (frequency 2) at least 100, possibly up to 200, and then radio towers (frequency 3), which would be picked up by any type of radio (there would only be 2-4 of these on the map). There would be an all frequency as well, so players near a radio tower could hear those on walkie talkies and military radios, and those with military radios could those on walkie talkies if they were in range.

More animal types - Not really needed IMO.

Zombie hordes - Can't agree more. I found a crashed helicopter earlier, and there were 20 zombies in the vicinity. It's about the closest thing to a horde I've seen. Let me tell you, trying to sneak by them without being spotted was intense. Probably the best gameplay I've had with regards to zombies. There should be hordes of 10+ zombies at the tents in Stary, around the NEA, the airstrip in Balota and various sections of the NWA that are almost impossible to sneak by unless you happen to have a smoke grenade or a flare. Right now the only threats posed at those locations are from players, which is sad.

Party system - What I propose is some type of built-in friends list that is tied to the player ID. You can see what server someone is on, if you have a map in-game they show up on it (if the server allows you to see your position on the map) and they will have nameplates that show up at a predetermined distance, maybe 50-100m (appears on any server, nameplates activated or not). As for party chat itself, yes to in-game text in a party chat channel, no to in-game voice. That would defy the point of radios.

bumpz, new ideas:

- | Puzzles and Stuff | -

Locked Doors, opened only by crowbars.

Crates, boxes, "chest likes" opened by keys?

- | New Areas | -

I don't know if it's possible to tweak the world map, but if it is, it would be nice to see some new building types. Police Stations, Docks, More house types.

- | New Zombie Types | -

More drops from rarer zombies, and some kind of new zombie types. (Dogs, kids, tinner and fatter zombies) (I really didn't wanna go to Resident Evil style)

- | Item Combination | -

Maybe some Item Combos:

Wood+Bandage = Splinter (relieves the broken legs for +15%Crouch Speed)

ToolBox+Flashlight+Gun = Dr.Obvious ( :) )

HuntingKnife+Toolbox = Knife

ToolBox+Flare+ScrapMetal = Light Beacon (Releases a powerfull Light, 3slots)

The reason animals are so rare is that most of them have been eaten by zombies.

New buildings would be nice, but it's a lot of development work. Technically, it should be possible, but it requires someone to make all the textures and models.

Prophecy, I think you underestimate the range of radios. The walkie-talkies you can get at Wal-Mart typically have a range of 500m to 1500m, depending on terrain. Military handheld radios have a range of up to 4500m. Range depends only on the transmitter, not the reciever.

Anyway, most people just use Teamspeak.
