Colour not returning.

Recommended Posts

I'm really new to DayZ (never played the mod either) but I've been playing on the same character for about 2 weeks now, I've never been shot but have had a couple of rough encounters with zombies which obviously resulted in bleeding and colour loss, although I've cleaned my wounds, bandaged myself, eaten food and drank plenty of water - the colour in the game still isn't returning, apart from when I exit a server the colour pops back in for the split second before disconnecting. This is obviously rather annoying as I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, as far as I can see I'm not and have no status messages to say if I'm hungry/thirsty/sick etc but I can't find anyone else complaining about the same problem.

If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated, thanks!

You need to eat and drink to full untill you get healing status. Then you start regenerating blood and get colors back.

And then once your blood is full you can start regenerating health.

Keep in mind that to regain blood and remove the screen desaturation, you have to eat and drink A LOT. You can't simply stop once the hunger and thirst messages go away. Keep eating and drinking constantly. There is a certain threshold and once you pass it you have to then wait like 20 minutes to begin regaining blood/health, all the while maintaining your food/water levels.

Brilliant, thanks guys. I have been eating and drinking until the thirsty and hungry status messages go away.

Could you please tell me at which status messages I should stop eating and drinking, "my stomach is really full", or should I be looking for something else?

Thanks again.

"my stomach is really full" is alright, but be sure it is for water and food.

But If I drink a lot, I'll get the "my stomach is really full" status message and that's even without eating - should I just eat 10x and then drink 10x and hope for the best?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, as I explained, i'm really new.

Short answer: Watch the videos I linked, the first one at least.

Long answer: Your stomach fullness is it's own 'meter'. To have enough food/energy to begin healing, you would have to eat another ~10 cans of beans/tuna/sardines AFTER the 'hungry' status goes away. As far as water, just keep drinking as much and as often as possible. You can store A LOT of food/energy in your character, but not nearly as much of water, so you have to keep drinking frequently.

You could also have a friend saline bag you to speed things up.

Good Luck!

Basically, You have 5 meters. Water, Energy, Stomach, Blood, and Health. You can still be hungry or thirsty, or at the very least not at the healing threshold, even though your stomach is full.

I'm no good at explaining it, it's very complicated/nuanced, but then, that's Arma for you!

I strongly suggest you watch the video I linked up above. It helps a lot in understanding how the game works!

Whatever you do, don't keep eating or drinking after you get the 'stomach is full' message, you will throw up and lose a lot of water and energy! Also, NEVER eat rotten fruit, it's not worth it.

That's the time to stop drinking.

when this happens to me, I eat/drink a lot and then find a safe place to go afk while I heal
