Vehicle Fixes

Recommended Posts

Okay so vehicles are obviously one of the biggest "do-wants" in all of DayZ, and have driven most if not all cars in DayZ, even the huey I have to say that Vehicles have to be fixed, fast.

Vehicles are so useful in DayZ, but this is negated due to the fact that they're more fragile than your limbs which seem to be held in place by nutella.

Take the V3S Truck for example, if you hit a small fence/roadblock at around 5km/h and if the wheels are damaged - it will explode.

Get stuck on a fucking aluminium can? It will explode. This happens to pretty much every vehicle, only the Military Offroad seems to be working properly.

So what has to be fixed:

• Vehicles take WAY too much damage from hitting objects.

• Can survive tons of bullets, a tin can? Fuck no. You die.

• Vehicles get stuck on objects too easily and usually results in the vehicle exploding.

• Inventory "Calculator" - Showing how much room is used and how much it has, very much like the backpacks.

• ATVs flip from nothing, ATVs are meant to be offroad but as soon as they go offroad - they will flip eventually. Seems to be highly reproducible going uphill.

• ATVs needs to either be fixed or given the option to flip it back.

• Cars are too slow off-road.

• More?

That's pretty much all I can come up with right now, if anyone else have some ideas/suggestions feel free to post them and I'll add them to the list!

Bikes need to slow the hell down. My squadmate almost careened into a forest by going so fast on her bike! Also, an increased number of vehicles should be present, of course not operational.

Personally I don't think the bikes are too fast, just that their handling in itself is really messed up. :/

I'd very much agree with Vehicles being more common, as it seems now, you don't need a Toolbox to be able to repair vehicles. I'd say, make it so you need the necessary parts as well as a toolbox to repair a Vehicle - and to compensate for the rarity of the toolbox, add a few more cars.

Another thing I came to think of; Cars are too damn slow off-road. Seriously. The Hatchback goes like 15-20km/h tops off-road.

Military Offroad goes like 25-30km/h. Seriously...? :/

i dont know what do you imagine when you say "offroad", but you really cant go faster than 30kmph in real

the offroads are designed to go through a hard terrain, not to ride 100 kmph on a bumpy road, you would destroy your suspension

besides, i doubt that dayz has anything to do with vehicle physics, try complaing at ARMA forum:

I sincerely hope you're kidding right now. You're comparing Chernarus's terrain to that? Seriously? I suggest you take a look at how Chernarus terrain look like, also, even when driving on a god damn open field you're stuck at those slow speeds.

I'm fairly sure Rocket can do something on his side to improve the vehicle's physics and/or durability against objects. Also I just noticed that those vehicles seem a lot more durable in Armory compared to when playing DayZ Multiplayer.

For example in the Multiplayer, the V3S Truck will explode to pretty much anything as long as it damaged the wheels and/or gets stuck. This doesn't seem to be an issue in the Armory though.

Also, going 100km/h offroad in Chernarus would not damage your suspension, you'd need a whole lot more than a bumpy little offroad to damage your suspension severely.

I'd say make the max-speed around 50km/h rather than 15km/h because that's just ridiculous!

open fields are engine limitation. if they used too many polygons to model real ground it would affect the perfomance and it would cause bugs and difficulties with moving. do you know the bug when you ride with a vehicle over the rock your vehicle can flip easily? imagine that in every open field...

i suggest you to go outside sometimes, even the open field is not completely flat as in the game.

once again, go ask for this changes to official arma forum, not dayz

...What are you talking about? I've no issues with the open fields themselves - and no, they're most definitely not to keep the polygons at a lower quantity. It just goes along really well with the rest of Chernarus, it's hard to explain. The ArmA 2 Engine is much, much more powerful than most of you could possibly imagine - and could very well handle more detailed levels than Chernarus. The fact that the FPS is low is related to DayZ issues(Seems to be a lot of major FPS fixes in 1.7.2! :D) - not ArmA itself.

Only vehicle I've only ever flipped with is the ATV, which flips all the time.

Why are you getting so offensive all of a sudden? How about you go out instead, you're the one that doesn't seem to have any experience what it's actually like out there in real life, especially since you had to link YouTube videos of a SPORT in attempt to prove a point.

I live in the Northern parts of Sweden, I assure you, there's more than plenty of open fields and farmlands up here. I've even worked as a trucker and driven everything from Dynamex to Milk, so yeah, I've seen plenty of farmlands and they're nowhere near as bumpy.

There's no reason whatsoever to lower a vehicle's speed when driving offroad by such ridiculous amounts. It's not realistic and it's not fun - only annoying.

If you wanna continue this discussion, I'm all up for it. But stop trying to insult me, grow up instead will you?
