Some newbie questions

Hello, I am new to Dayz. Played Mod for about 1-2 days and decided to buy a dedicated game because some refered that fps is better here.

I must say I love the idea of the game, but it kicks you in the balls, but I guess thats the point. So the questions are:

- how often does the loot spawn? Is this parameter server dependent? I have run along the coast through 3 or 4 small towns and all the houses and sheds were already looted, doors were wide open and not a single item met. Just some cans. Never saw a single dead or alive player. And this repeated for every server I connected.

- i have noticed, that the idea of the context menu still persists, but I am having trouble, if I select an option and leftclick nothing happens. In the key assignments primary mouse button is set for interactions. So I have to use F ot Tab to open doors and pick up loot. Is this how it supposed to be?

- Is a charecter now bind to profile? From the shor experience in the Mod, every server I connected, if it wasn't a hive, new character was built and remaind persistent on this server. Now in SA I get the same character across all the servers. And this is cool though.

 

If I have more questions, I will post the same thread in order not to polute forums.

Hello there,

 

1.) The loot spawns only on server restart.

2.) You can go through the options with the mouse wheel and you can select them with Mouse3/F.

3.) Yes it is.

-loot spawns on server restart only.  Typically the coastal towns have already been hit, so it's best to just find a water pump, fill up, and head inland.

-Default interaction keys are middle mouse button or F, but you should be able to rebind it to what you like.  I wouldn't use LMB though as you may fire every time you open a door with gun ready.

-It's the same as the Mod only with no private hives.  There are servers that broke the rules and have been disconnected, but for the most part the decent servers all transfer.

So next question, I always spawn near the factory which is north of Solnichniy. Where should i go? Went inland to Orlovec, Dolina, Gorka, Polana and never seen a gun. Where to head from coast then? Berezino as well was looted and shot at the sight

50/50.

 

I tend to have a lot of luck in Berezino , it's generally the quietest city.  Still dangerous, but fun.

 

About loot spawning.. the fact that it doe snot spawn is a temporary thing.. while testing the alpha.  Expect it to be added soon I believe.

you can loot your gear back from it.

 

patch coming today makes a 10 minute timer on your body.
