Dayz possibly for ps4?

Recommended Posts

Could there be a possibility of DayZ releasing on ps4? ESO is an MMORPG, much similar to DayZ and it should be out for ps4 around June. i figured if the ps4 could hold the Elder Scrolls Online, it could hold DayZ, which i find extremely fun to play. Just wondering if anyone agrees with me on this, or disagree's with me. if you disagree then provide some facts about why. i think the devs should at-least consider it, i think it would be popular within the ps4 gaming community. also not ruling out Xbox one, i just don't know much about it to know if it could support it better than the ps4.

Side note: i know alot of people that play DayZ probably arent ps4 or xbox gamers, but only PC gamers. But coming from a huge ps4 and xbox gamer and a small-time PC gamer, i think this would be great on ps4 and/or xbox one. thanks guys.

I'm sorry, but I don't think they'll ever bring it to PS4... Too many tasks at once and this is far away from being their concerns

Rocket (Dean Hall) mentioned a possibility of a console release of DayZ (more likely PS4 than Xbox) but...only...as a possibility.  There have been no official announcements or even hints concerning the beginning of development of a console version of DayZ so...I wouldn't hold your breath.

The controller is a limitation. Maybe you could do it, but a lot of stuff would have to be re-mapped to clumsier contextual cues and probably longer interaction lists operated with the d-pad (probably). Would the Real Virtuality engine even be compatible with the PS4? I know it doesn't use the old Cell architecture, so... maybe?

Does the PS4 have the same patch implementation/certification costs as the Xbox? If so (and maybe even if not) you're not looking at DayZ on PS4 for at least another two years, if it ever happens at all.

I'm an all round gamer and I'm just going to tell you now, based off the xbox one and ps4 specs, they would have an extremely hard time running DayZ. I have the Xbox One and I know for a fact that it would have a hard time running DayZ at a smooth framerate. ESO runs on an entirely different engine so saying its "much similar" to Dayz is entirely false. I've played the ESO beta so take that however you want.  Also, mapping all the controls to an Xbox or Dualshock would probably be impossible. If it did come out for console gamers you'd probably see it 3-4 years from now, considering it's in Pre-Alpha...

-1

Arma engine just does NOT go with consoles.

PLUS the controls in this game are so different to other games that you would not be able to fit them all onto a controller anyway without having to remember mind-boggling combinations.

If you brought this into the console market it would just be a KoS frenzy anway...

There is, actually, a real possibility that it will make it to PS4... based on what has been said so far. What people need to understand about consoles having "less" power than your average PC, is that the hardware is not concentrated on any other tasks than running the game and there is little, if any, software buffer(Thanks DirectX...) between the hardware and the game... And think about the OS that a console has. That OS is perfectly designed for every specific piece of hardware in the machine whereas with a PC, the OS has to have EXPONENTIALLY broader support for various hardware. So, I believe it is more than doable and a definite "maybe". hahahha

There's a possibility, but nothing official on it and as Hall said "successful sales = porting to console = more sales" although he has also said that he wouldn't be part of porting it cause he couldn't care less whether it exists on console or not, but from a publishing point of view it would make sense since it would increase number of sold copies. Other than that I guess it is a judgement call if it is worth the effort when you compare the number of potential sales to how much time it would take to port. But it certainly wouldn't happen until the computer version of the game has been released.
