Overdosing

Hello, how's it going?

 

So with DayZ aiming for a realistic feel, the majority/most also wanting the game to be as realistic as possible, I thought of an idea.

 

Now before we begin, I am not going to suggest things such as illegal drugs (Marijuana, Cocaine, Meth, etc). I don't really see the need for those drugs in the game really, I could imagine already see the "Breaking Bad Simulator" jokes if Meth was ever implemented, but I'm getting sidetracked.

 

My idea was that your character could overdose, if they were to take too much medication at once. I've seen cases in the game where somebody will be injured, and they'll just spam as many painkillers or antibiotics down their characters throat as they can. Anything to try and get their character 'healthy' again.

 

Perhaps by overdosing, your character would pass out for a while - where you could be injected with an Epi-Pen to wake back up, as usual. Of course, if this doesn't work, your character could just die.

 

It would add caution to Medicine and such, so you don't just use as many and as much as you can when you're hurt.

 

Aside from that, it's more of a rough idea/suggestion. If you think there is anything that could be added/changed to it, go right ahead.

I'm down for this take my beanz!

I think i read somewhere that there is or going to be an addiction system kind of like in new vegas's survival mode.... or maybe i'm just confused and got my games all mixed up!

It's a really good suggestion since (( Anything to try and get their character 'healthy' again. )) the medication is really abused, you can eat 10 bottles of vitamins, painkillers, and even drink the injection vials, or inject yourself some morphine injectors and epi pens. NOTHING will happen as far as I've seen. It would add ALOT of realism into the game and getting into a "healthy" state would be alot harder as well, just like it would be in real life after a zombie apocalypse would happen.

 

Now about the consequences, I myself would really like it if you would become sick, (( State of sickness would depend on the level of the overdose )) loose some blood, (( from 500 to 1500 depending on state of overdose )) and after you lost that amount of blood, if you don't rid of the sickness, (( I think in my opinion you should boil water in a cooking pot, fill the water bottle or the canteen with the boiled water, and somehow make some tea, with berries maybe, because they will be implemented soon, and after you drink alot of tea and just don't move too much, you could get rid of the sickness )) you will pass out (( You can pass out any time, but the chances are alot higher when you don't get rid of the sickness )) and eventually die if you overdosed too much. If you didn't overdose too much you would just pass out and get back up maybe after 2-5 minutes. It shouldn't be made like this :

 

2 mins : Light overdose

3 mins : medium overdose

 

ETC.

 

Because the player would know when he will get back up and could just AFK the whole time, meantime if he didn't know, he would have to stay and guard his character, you get what I mean.

 

And you could get revived by an epi pen, but not a saline bag.

 

That's my thought's, overall, it's a good idea.

I'm up for the over-dozing system,although i don't agree about the addiction system.

There are a lot of fun thing you should rather be doing than playing a junkie-simulator.

Yeah sure,it would be realistic,but not usefull and take away from the experience.

Can you overdose on antibiotics? Surely the worst you would get is the shits.

I wouldn't mind having to realistically take them periodically.

I like this idea, 

 

I remember when id get sick or my guy would start making noises and id have to take like 7 painkillers or several antibiotics to cure myself which would actually have a reverse effect IRL

 

to extend it, perhaps doing so would mean your character would have to be stomach pumped, which would only be available in a hospital and would have a high mortality rate meaning if failed then your character would die..

 

Again though, these are all ideas...

Yeah, I think at the worst you'll just get sick from it, which I think would be a good punishment for spamming Antibiotics into your character.
