conan the librarian 99 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the idea of 'giving my beans' to posts that I like. I'd also like the oppurtunity to give a rotten kiwi to posts that I dislike. Thoughts please?
TedZ 424 Posted January 17, 2014 As i've suggested before, i don't think this will be implemented because i asked for the Thumbs down emotion to dislike posts and things, but they say that is what :emptycan: is for.
conan the librarian 99 Posted January 17, 2014 For shame.. one cannot experience joy without knowing misery, as one cannot know a good post when not knowing a terrible post. This is the reason why all the kids today are semi-autistic, emotionally retarded squealing brats.
Awruk 216 Posted January 17, 2014 No, that would be just like democracy. The true quality of the post wouldn't matter, it could be just dumbed down by people who can simply press "rotten kiwi button". In democracy 2 dumbasses have more power over 1 professor because 2 > 1. If you don't like someone's post just ignore them or tell them that. Rating system is a no no. ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) No, that would be just like democracy. Not really; there would be no actual effect on the post. This wouldn't determine whether a post rises or falls on the forum, or whether it appears in searches, and the developers would be under no obligation to pay attention to the votes. It would just be a running indicator of the community's general impression of an idea. Right now it's difficult to tell, because often the number of beans is more indicative of the age of the post rather than how people feel about the idea. If only 10% of people like an idea, it will still have 1,000 beans by the time it gets 10,000 views even though 9,000 people might think it's an awful suggestion. By comparison, a post that's liked by 90% of viewers but with only 1,000 views will currently appear to be less liked, even though it is vastly more popular. I think it's great. I almost posted the same thing yesterday - give us Downbeans or Rotten Kiwi! It's especially strange because the bug tracker, of all things, allows downvotes, but the forum does not! Crazy. Awruk 216 Posted January 18, 2014 The thing is, people will give out beans/kiwis no matter if it's actually a good or bad idea. They will give it based on what THEY think. If Anti-KOS idea gets enough beans does it mean it should be implented? That's why democracy is so bad.
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) There's nothing wrong with the current system, this is the internet, people just hit dislike out of spite. Might aswel focus on the positive side of things. Edited January 18, 2014 by Lady Kyrah
