Clumsy character movement.

Recommended Posts

Hey all.

I just bought the game yesterday and so far i am really enjoying it, although it just an alpha.

I have never played the mod so i am not sure about the movement in the mod.

My problem is that the character movement feels all clumsy and almost a bit laggy. It is okay while moving on open road but as soon as i am in a house it feels hard to move around easily.

My questions are basically, is it just me?

I am thinking that it is just me and then i have something to improve, settings-wise. I have turned of the mouse smoothness and the helped a lot with that but the keybord movement still feels clumsy.

If it is not me then i guess it is because the game is in alpha and it will improve over time. Or the movement is the same in the mod and will stay the same all the time (sucks if that is the case).

Well anyway i am enjoying my time so far and will continue to play regardless of the movement but at the moment i am very annoyed at it.

Thanks for reading.

Cya in game.

Not just you, it feels different and because you are probably used to about every other game. Arma/Dayz got it's own thing here, after a while you get used to it. At first when i started playing arma 2 i thought i had low fps, but after measuring the FPS i was certain that was'nt it. The character just does'nt instantly stop when you move around like they do in most other games.

Nope, the 1st person view is clumsy. I use to be in 3rd person especially in buildings. Swiching the view is numpad enter.

As i had not tuned my graphic settings i thought it was clumsy too. after having it tuned i get like 40 fps in open and 20 to 30 in towns. before it was only playable with 3rd person but now i can enjoy it in FP with a smooth feeling.

Some people (not me, it would seem) have problems with the mouse smoothing / acceleration thing.

It seems that it's not getting turned off properly in some cases. But trying to turn it off, and given that it works, will also improve the responsiveness (or the feeling of it) a little.

Well, that is if you can't or don't want to get used to this mouse acceleration stuff.

inb4 ArmA fanbois claim its "realism" to tumble for half a meter everytime you want to shift your position slightly to account for the horrible inaccurate targeting of interaction triggers.

yes its annoying. i hate it with a passion. it feels as if the character was heavily drunk. ah well. game is still fun.

It is a bit clumsy, but will only improve as time goes on I think.  It's worse in the mod since Arma was never really too worried about indoor mechanics, as most battles took place outside.  I still hate playing on the different mods that feature the medium barracks (lingor island, panthera, etc) that have certain doorways you can't get through unless you wiggle or vault through them.
