I'm just curious

I never had a chance to play the mod, I'm way up north and coming across towns with farms and lots of deer hides and such.

I'm interested mainly in learning the land and the places to go, though when hunting is implemented I'd like to hunt. Did the mod have hunting rifles and similar in farms and deer hides as up north right now seems empty, I've found only a magnum and an FNX(No mag) at a military looking base on my way up north.

It just seems a bit empty. I'm not looking to gank anyone with an M4 so need to risk the military base as a lone survivor.

Main question is: How was the mod fleshed out, were there many hunting weapons in random homesteads and deer hides?

Many weapons, all over the place, not as much in homesteads, as very few of them were enterable/lootable, but barns often contained rifles. Early on the deer stands had awesome loot, and they nerfed it a bit later. The standalone is mostly empty, but it also has a much larger number of buildings that you can enter, and that will eventually spawn loot once they've optimized the code for performance.

In the mod deer stands spawned military loot, for some reason. I remember someone posted the most efficient route to visit all/most of the deer stands on the map. You could get M4s, AKs, even M14s, which is one of the best guns in the mod.
