DarkwaveDomina 1099 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) The only way to fix the irrefutable imbalance would be to fix the 3PP ability to see around objects and or have separate hives for 3PP and 1PP servers. Nothing less, nothing more. Private hives are coming, and will hopefully settle this issue once and for all. It's the "fix 3PP" part I disagree with, because this usually means "I consider it cheating so it must be fundamentally changed or removed" and the logic behind calling it cheating is often unsound. The rest of your argument can apply to any number of situations. I can gear up on an empty server, I can gear up on a night server, I can make sure I join a server just after restart, and once you have gotten 3PP "fixed" because you consider it cheating will you then come for those as well? Hackers are going to be an omnipresent problem too but that doesn't mean the developers shouldn't try to deal with them. Let me guess your response to that. "Well I mean you're never going to be able to get rid of hackers so I guess that means it's not really a problem because umm....because everyone can be affected by hackers...yeah that's it! Everyone can fall victim to hackers so it's balanced! No fix needed." Goodnight man. Whether the other players on that server use 3PP or not is wholly irrelevant, the person using 3PP has a situational advantage and THIS is the fundamental problem with 3PP in its current form. Calls to play on a 1PP only server or to just use 3PP do not fix the fact that 3PP gives an advantage in favour of the user. I posted a viable solution (in the other thread) that would prevent 3PP players using it to gain an advantage without preventing people using 3PP (irrespective of whether they use it for said advantage) and without having to split the community in half by forcing one setting or not, so I'm not even sure why this debate rages on.TL;DR: Give it a fucking rest already.
