komadose 190 Posted January 14, 2014 Would it be impossible? I can imagine it's a huge effort considering the size, but if they get enough funding and meet the current goals successfully. I'm talking about past beta here. It would greatly increase the longevity of this game. What do you think?

komadose 190 Posted January 14, 2014 Probably not. Chernarus took 5 years to create and they've spent another year working on Chernaplus so...oh ok, i didn't know it was quite THAT time consuming... maybe if they can hire some super efficient team to it now with their well earned beans money? :P
Gugolas 228 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) In one of his streams prealpha release I remember Rocket talking about this topic and he seemed quite loving the idea. It might be, one day, but who knows now.As stated before me, it would take tons of time, wich is now not even thinkable...maybe in some years! rossums 2190 Posted January 14, 2014 They have plans to further expand Chernarus+ in a northerly direction before they move on to any other maps.

monolith1985 109 Posted January 14, 2014 yeah i remember rocket saying he would like to make a new map. even saying he would like something with a western feel.personally i prefer the non-western maps of dayz and arma, nobody needs another new york in a videogame
mike miller 14 Posted January 14, 2014 there are many nice arma2 maps that could be addapted to DayZ. I dont see the point in creating new one, but converting excisting maps to DayZ seem doable imo., but maybe its not that easy...
Katana67 2907 Posted January 14, 2014 I personally think the map will eventually be a limit on what DayZ can/should be. If they're constantly pushing for higher player counts, I'd say the map is almost at its limits if not at them already. I've said this before, but Chernarus ain't that big once you've filled in all the mental gaps. I really think that later on, perhaps many years from now, they're going to attempt procedural generation. A finite map is just that, finite. It can be learned indefinitely, hence why I haven't needed an in-game map since 2012.
