Heres a good place to start http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154725-index-of-all-the-helpful-threads-you-need-to-read/ welcome to the forums aswell.  Best advice I can give is always remember Dayz giveth and Dayz Taketh.  Play style tips will vary depending on how you want the outcome to be of your character and what your ultimate goals are.  Its a sandbox have fun and create your own story.  Just make sure to keep your situational awareness at its peak and you will survive just fine.
