Direct Communication Problems - Avermedia Live Gamer HD

So I have a strange problem. I have an Avermedia Live Gamer HD capture card (the card records your game/audio without putting any stress on your video card at all). Anyways, in order for this card to record my Astro A50 headset, you have to set the stereo mix as the default recording device, and have it listen to the headset. I discovered that once I got this card up and running, my direct communication stopped working in-game. With a little more research, I found that in order for Direct Communication to work, you have to have your Mic set as "default device". I can't have them both set as default device. Anyone know any way around this?
